The History of Zhongli | Genshin Impact Lore

In this video we'll be delving into the history of Zhongli that has been revealed so far. Starting off with his relationship with Guizhong, then the Archon Wars, Azhdaha, his involvement with Khaenri'ah and a short summary of his role in our story in the modern era so far.

This video was the most challenging to make so far with trying to condense a mountain of lore into a video and Premiere Pro trying to condense my pc into a miniature sized black hole while editing/exporting so I really hope you enjoy it! (I've ordered a new one which will take about a month to be built and has helped me empathise with Zhongli having no mora. :') )

Update: with new information it's likely Zhongli only gave eyes to Azhdaha and not a whole body.

My wish for Zhongli's next story quest is we help him to unlock the secret within the Guizhong's stone dumbbell... it will be much greater since there might be some interesting secret although it will sadden people and bring Zhongli into despair more.... I don't want that story to be cliffhanger though...so yeah... I hope my wish will become true

The conclusion got me thinking what we will actually do at chasm. I speculate that Baizhu will come into play with that random dendro slime which meant it’ll be something related to immortality, now say your prediction is correct and there’s abyssal power or corruption there and while we’re investigating Zhongli found a loophole by indirectly shows us how abbys creature became immortal and baizhu finally found a way to be immortal stop searching for it because of the corruption and actually take care of Qiqi with love

Also it seems like morax/lapis/zhong/geo daddy knows he’s going to one day die, so deliberately fakes his death etc and also joins the funeral parlour, not for himself, but to help the people of liyue get used to an exsistance without him, so it doesn’t go to sh*t when he does eventually die

This was such a joy to watch and probably my favourite video of yours! Zhongli is one of my favourite - if not my ultimate favourite - characters in the game, not only because of his aesthetic and admittedly very cool powers but also because of how profoundly deep his lore is. This man lost his best friend, saw his people crumble, and has more than 6000 years worth of history resting on his shoulders. What I'm most interested in is his involvement in the destruction of Khaenri'ah. I too think that the contract that forces him to remain silent was made with Celestia. If you think about it though, giving away his Gnosis to the Tsaritsa speaks volumes. Makes you wonder what the equivalent exchange here is. What could compare to an Archon's Gnosis? Zhongli's last conversation with Kun Jun/Azhdaha and the foreshadowing regarding his own fate in the - possible, probable, highly likely - conflict to follow made me tear up. Oh dear, time to go give my Zhongli another crown-

This is the best lore video you’ve done so far IMO. Though all of them have been great. At first I didn’t care for Zhongli in early stages of playing, but after doing his story quest, and finding out more about him, I have so much respect for him. Even though it’s pretty early in the game i still feel that he will still be my favorite archon. Venti is great, and has lost his fair share of people too, but Zhongli has lost so much and has been suffering for far longer I believe.
