THE BEACON OF HATE! Scary Ham Radio beacon transmissions!!

A video about the infamous Beacon of Hate - a spooky Ham Radio beacon operating on the 30m military band. First logged transmissions are from the year 2000, but the beacon goes back to December 1999.

Insinuating that the military may have been behind this is scaremongering speculation. Although land military is nominally the primary user, in practice, the band 10100 - 10150kHz is used almost exclusively by amateurs.

What I was drawn to is that the frequency is right next door to 10106kHz, used worldwide as a QRP (low power) calling frequency. Inexpensive crystals for this frequency are widely available and used for home-made projects, as are kits for simple transmitters (Norcal 49ers, OXOs, Pixies, Frogs, Oners to name but a few).
MY speculation (since the station is on the same frequency every time) is that the culprit could be using a home-built transmitter - in line with many other operators of unlicensed beacons.

The last message is the strangest of all. "Thanks for watching", but this was sent on the RADIO?!? "please like the video" but this was sent by CW, not even SSTV?!? ;-)

I find it interesting that the messages say such racist stuff about Arab people, but also demand that the US government give them their money back.

As for why the broadcasts ended I imagine it's something pretty mundane like the broadcaster moving their insane ramblings to the internet instead.

Print the TRACTS. Leaflets with short messages on them. a pamphlet or leaflet of political or religious propaganda. also : a piece of writing that is suggestive of such a tract. (Additonal: these are a source of fascination for me.)
