The RIGHT Way to Tie Your Shoes!

There's a good chance that you're tying your shoes the wrong way--let's fix that!

To start, take one lace in each hand. First, the lace in your DOMINANT hand goes OVER and AROUND, then pull tight.

Next, make a loop with the lace in your DOMINANT hand. Then, the most important part: the OTHER lace comes OVER and AROUND the loop, from FRONT to BACK. (This is the part most people get incorrect, bringing the other lace UNDER the loop from back to front. Your finished bow will want to sit vertically across the shoe, which looks unattractive, and the knot will be more likely to come untied.)

To finish up, push the lace through to create your second loop, and pull tight, adjusting as necessary.

Now, check your bow; it should lie horizontally across the shoe, and stay horizontal if you pull at the shoe.

I love Preston’s facial expressions. He’s a live-action version of a cartoon character! 😊

Thank you for explaining with 'dominant hand'. We have mostly righties, one lefty, one ambie and well the arthritis has slowing making me a neither. So since i pass these on to the important men in my life its nice to be able explain.

I've always tied shoelaces correctly. That's how my dad taught me.

My guy looks great with that beard. He has such a great defined jaw is a sin not to show it off. But, it still looks great.

I almost hate needing to be re-taught something I've been doing for over... let's say "10" years. LOL

In my entire life, I have never seen someone tie their shoes and have the bow be the wrong way.

Can't forget that straight bar lacing. Looks clean and neat and holds the shoe firmly in place. All my shoes are done that way, except my over the ankle work boots since it won't work well for them.

The "wrong" way loosens over time, and sits crookedly, because it is basically a granny knot, whereas the "right" way is basically a Square knot -- it's just both are combined with Overhand loops to aid in untying 😊

As for me, the most beautiful and strong knot is a Berluti Knot

When I'm done, I tuck in the lace + bow under some laces to keep it snug.

Personally I am a big fan of the berleti of the Berluti knot

The best way is by far the Ian knot. Nothing anyone could tell me would change my mind.

Since I know the berluti knot every other knot is irrelevant. Every other loosen over time but not the berluti knot

This is how my mum taught n I taught my son too 🤣 bt most ppl think this is something different from their way of tying which is shabby.

I do it exactly the opposite way round. Works the same. Just mirrored.
