Found this really useful thanks! One question though, I've been seeing tie bars that are flat and also ones with back clip, like a bull dog clip that you need to press. Does the latter hurt because it's a protruding clip at the back and poking at your chest?

Doesn’t it askew the tie when the back of the clip is shorter than the front? Always seems like is pushes the tie to the left of center. (Looking down) Because the right side of the tie lines up with the buttons instead of being centered.

You demonstrated a tie CLIP. A tie BAR has the clip, but it's usually too tight to slip on, like a paper clip. You have to use both hands to open the clip. What do you do then?

You used your tie-clip wrong. It should not be visible. The thin piece of the tie goes through a loop of fabric sawn on the backside of the wide piece and the tie-clip holds the thin piece to the shirt while the thin piece holds the wide piece via that inner loop. The tie-clip should go just below the inner loop of fabric to stop the thin piece coming out of that loop. There's a thin line between being classy and showing off ornate pieces of metal on your chest. Don't treat tie-clips and buttons as jewelry...you're not a peacock. Be discreet if you wanna be classy...go flashy if you wanna be "gangsta"...whatever that means.

There is no right way, unless you want to look like a 3rd rate bus driver.
