The J-turn always fascinated me. Such a cool-looking maneuver, no wonder it's a part of every car chase scene ever

I practiced the barricade breach but now there are strangers yelling at me that the police are coming and to not leave the scene. Not sure what I did wrong…

High speed reversing should be mandatory in modern day driving world. Such an underrated technique.

The Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor will forever be awesome.

Notice they're using a Crown Vic with a police package. They're designed to do that. It's a little more difficult in a standard family car

That’s why police use the cool column shifter! Right next to your hands.

Keep your head on a swivel. That was my number one take-away from military training.

With the J-turn you first give a quarter turn the other way to upset the balance of the front wheels, so when you flick it in the opposite direction they louse their grip allowing the spin. When swerving its really important to have your hands at 9 & 3. Anything above that and steering gets way more jerky and sloppy. Also really avoid the brakes. When braking too hard, the front wheels stop spinning and slide meaning you don't turn. The key is as with everything driving "look where you want to go", not at the obstacle. First, you always steer where looking so if you stair at what you don't want to hit, you will subconsciously be drawn to it. Secondly, if staring at an obstacle reaction is to floor the brake which will make you slide into it. Looking at the clear path through makes it psychologically much easier to just steer to safety.

It's weird how an American car with a British name becomes a legendary vehicle!😂

Situational awareness is the most useful tactic in any situation. All of these victims we see these days all have their head in the clouds. Pay attention to what is going on around you. Who is in the car next to you? What's going on 15 seconds ahead or behind you?

The other aspect of this is that traction control will prevent most/all of these maneuvers. When trouble strikes, traction control
