I’m first Nations, so I think I can have the right to express my viewpoint on this matter. Kind of like how Black people can use the N-word.

Throughout history, languages come and go. Lots of them die out. I think people tend to romanticize The need for language as part of culture. Languages and cultures coming and going is just a cycle of humans going through evolution and history. Languages and cultures die out for a reason because they become unnecessary, irrelevant and unpopular. As a human species we grow and develop and move on to other things. We don’t really need to maintain cultures of the past. We don’t need that as part of our identity. We can identify as a modern person. For example, I don’t see myself needing to skin a deer. I can get when I need from a grocery store. I think we just need to accept this and go with the flow. For some people learning their traditional language is a hobby for them and good for them. But I certainly don’t see it as necessary. It’s like we all just need to get With the times.
