Thank you for this video. I love Thomas Sowell. He’s not read or listened to enough. As it happens I’m also writing an article on the comparison between the American and French revolutions and how it’s relevant today. This is very helpful.

I think you may have missed the point of this Sowell excerpt, if you think the answer to our problems is term limits.

The whole argument Sowell was making is that people would rather see their enemy punished than flourish themselves, and your takeaway from that except is that the people in power need to be punished by having their power taken away.

I want to be clear that I am not disagreeing. We need term limits. But a more appropriate takeaway from this video would be either that government needs to be removed from commercial and social life entirely, giving the public more space to thrive and the politicians more pressing matters of defense to worry about, OR that we the people need to vote for politicians who would create policy that would uplift us, not just punish others for perceived slights against us.
