What is Deanna's character arc?

Seems pretty in-character for Lwaxana to not being able to learn any lesson. She means well, but for all of her betazoid empath powers, she doesn't seem to be able to emphatize with people as equals.

Nah as a person with a mom like that. It hit right at home. “Mom stop being terrible” and she doesn’t stop being terrible. Seems completely in character to me.

It's the nuance of the two usages that is the character development. The first one was patronizing, and was actually treating Diana as a child. The second was used as a plea from one adult to another to trust her, and that she's seeing her AS an adult for maybe the first time in her life. Just look at Diana's eyes here.

Majel Barrett was the absolute shiz!!! Beautiful lady and great actress in TNG. She always reminded me of a New Jersey mother in law. Whenever anyone mentions Trek, I hear Spock’s, Kirk’s, and her’s voices. She is the Enterprise.

I think in the beginning the mother did treated Tori like a child and it shows. At the end, she saw Tori as an adult and treated her such but still call her little one as the tone is different. She finally respected her such.

To be fair the little one towards the end felt more like a mother telling her child to do as she's told and not worry in an intense situation.

It's probably why Troi didn't mind it. Because it could've been the last time she saw her mother.

Its part of her mother's character though, she's a mix of wonderfully perceptive and empathetic but also woefully unperceptive about some things and completely oblivious to some emotions. This weird dichotomy -makes- the character, its done that way on purpose and its what fans grew to love about her character.

the real lesson is that Deanna accepts that her mother calling her little one isnt to demean her, or treat her like a child. Its that she will always be her beloved child no matter how hold she gets, pet names for children never go away. She could be a 100 years old and she would still be Lwaxana's little one.

You want to talk about missed opportunities we should have gotten an episode of deep space nine where lwaxana meets moogie and they both raise sassy hell on the promenade and make everybody's life miserable, especially Deanna and quark
