In this video, I’ll be doing a ownership review of my outgoing XJ. In my last drive, I’ll explain the reasons why I’ve sold it and things to watch for when buying one.

personally for me this is the best looking 4 door car ever made 👍 when electric engine swaps will become widely available, that's gonna be my chassis for a swap ;)

On my 5th Jag. A X308 LWB 4 Litre Sovereign which I have owned 12 yrs. Purchased with 105k miles now has 226k miles. The trick is constant maintenance. Just had some welding and bodywork done (again). On 2nd diff and second autobox. When you get on top of issues, keep the car, do not go and buy a "shiny" replacement....it will have the same faults, usually sooner than expected! I would say the biggest concern is corrosion...spend more time checking beneath rather than on top of a prospective purchase.

My previous vehicles include x308 XJR and X306 XJR. The V8 was far quicker than the straight 6. My current X308 4L has very similar performance to the X306XJR. Further back in time I had V12 XJs which were the smoothest but power strangled by the GM 3 speed auto!!

It's a shame you're selling it but I can see why, and I'm so glad you bought it, you gave it exactly the love it needed.

I bought an XJ6 Gold in 1994 and then traded it in for an X300 in 1997. In 2017 I bought a second hand X300 for just £2, 000 as it was the best car I have ever owned. They do not need a lot of time or energy, you just need an experienced independent Jaguar mechanic. I spent another £1, 000 having the car pressure cleaned underneath and then tidied up and rust proofed. It costs me about £240 a year for servicing and MOT and it drives like a dream. There is not a car like it and the straight 6 is bomb proof.
The experienced independent Jaguar mechanic is the clue. Mine based in Doncaster is so good that owners of Jags from all over the UK bring their cars to him.

I currently own a jaguar x300 1996, it's a blessing and a curse getting onto 30years old it's going to have it's issues, it's hard to find non service parts, garages don't want to touch them and are useless I had an electrical issue and 2 mobile mechanics and 1 garage condemned the car to scrap, luckily I found a jaguar specialist it was only a sensor it needed, these cars are a joyful headache
