How To Draw An Ellipse Using The Arcs Of Circles Method

Construct an Ellipse by Arcs of circles method. For major axis = 120mm and minor axis = 80mm.

Construction 3:
1. Draw the major axis (AB) and minor axis (CD) perpendicular to each other and bisecting at 'O'.
2. With point C as center and radius AO,( ½ Major axis). Cut AB at the points F1 and F2 (foci)
3. Mark any point 1 on F1 'O'. With A to 1 as radius and F1 center draw arcs above and below AB. With 1 to B as radius and F2 as center cut the previous arcs to get P1 and P'1.
4. Assuming identical points 3 and 4 on the other side obtain points P3, P'3, P4, P'4. Join them by a smooth curve.
