To further clarify, edify or confuse, I can add some additional nomenclature / details.

- [ ] 1:05 The 2nd straight line drawn to find the midpoint “0”, (also origin or centre) is called the perpendicular bisector. The angle to the first line is always a right angle (90° or π/4 radians), and it locates the exact centre of the line AB.
- [ ] The foci are analogous to the centre of a circle. Together with appropriately specified radii, they uniquely define the shape and size of the geometric figure. In mathematical notation, the equation for an ellipse is very similar to that of a circle. [I won’t try to type them out in a comment!]

2:40 The choice of points 1, 2, 3, … can be entirely random, don’t need to be equidistant (as measured by a compass on the video) and can be as numerous as you like - I personally need extra detail closer to endpoints A and B to get the curves right. With enough of these points, you won’t need to guess with a french curve.

Not sure if this all helps, but I find it useful to know and apply for geometric artwork (for which I am a total amateur).
It could just mean I have too much spare time on my hands.
