As a producer, I've always wondered how some artists are able to produce tracks so quickly. I was so puzzled how some producers could start and finish tracks in less than a day, where creating a similar type of idea would take days or weeks. Was it their workflow? Or their plugins? What didn't I know?

Over the past few years, I've come to realize it really all comes down to how they setup their workstation. How they customize their DAW to be a song-making machine.

In this tutorial, I will show you exactly how you can customize Ableton to maximize your output and streamline your workflow. I'll go through all my favorite features within Ableton that allow you to streamline and accelerate the entire production process.

If you have questions on anything discussed, please just leave a comment. I read and respond to every one!

Bro tip #1 was super valuable to me, which is weird because I strongly recommend templates for myself or anyone else. I couldn’t imagine producing without them at this point. But the analogy of the chef or artists added even more value, it was cool. Thanks for all the support and cultivation of the skills of future producers!

Good point with making your own sample pack. I usually pick similar samples anyway

Great content! Definitely gonna use these tips. Also a Michigan-based producer as well so great to see others in the area making great videos.

digging this <3 thanks for the tips

for the reference track, I found if I set that track (or that group's) output to "output 1+2" instead of to master, it's another method to bypass the mastering chain but still hear it out your speakers

A tip for referencing, there's an easier way to do it without turning your master fx off. Just set the reference track to ext.out instead of master and solo :)

For the reference track, can’t you just put it on direct out instead of master out? That way the master won’t impact that specific reference

Thanks. Some recommendations from my end - Live Enhancement Suite - its free.... I am adding more and more things to my double right click on a regular basis and its speeding up my workflow. A sample manager - I just got Cosmos and am playing around with it a bit and have had ADSR Sample Manager and haven't really used it much so far. I have been spending a pile of time organizing my samples, but I am starting to find them faster in Cosmos. Time will tell which way I run on this. Oddly, I sort of like having my samples open outside of my DAW and then dragging them in. However, sometimes I like the reverse when I need to audition them with my beat. Building proper racks for things is gold. Thanks for the hint on putting things on Audio and MIDI channels - the defaults - that I use all the time... that's another time saver... as I am normally just double right clicking and adding me rack - every time. Workflow is king! Albeit - as of late, I seem to be doing all organizing and no work. Haha. I feel it will payoff in the long run though.
