Finally getting around to look at my latest Vostok. The Amfibia (with an F) Scuba. While it uses the same movements as the regular Amphibias, it has a more modern compressor style case.
Spec wise it seems to fit the bill as well, at 41mm wide, and mineral crystal. Model# 070799

I actually like the look of this one a lot better than the original Amphibias. With the originals the main draw for me was the price and the quirkiness, but I could never find one I liked enough to actually pull the trigger. This looks really cool and unique, but at that price and with my budget probably not at the top of my list of things I'd actually go out and buy (if I could even find one).

I'm glad Vostok decided to deviate from their traditional design and developed something new. I like the partially skeletonized hands and even the date window. I also have noticed here that you still have your Komandirskie 24 hr GMT watch in your collection. Glad to see that you decided to keep it.

Hi Shane… Back in the market for Vostok, And I remembered watching this video and liking this watch… I’ve been going back-and-forth between this and another one that we reviewed… The GMT which I was actually leaning towards but doesn’t seem to be available anywhere… Do you still have this one in your collection and you still like it as much… I’m seeing it for right around $180 which still seems to be reasonable… Thanks for this review… It was worth watching twice!

Hi Shane, just received the black Scuba from Meranom. Fast shipping and well packaged. My first Vostok (have some nice Strela watches so not my first Russian watch). I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised for the price. Extremely comfortable on the silicone strap, smooth sides all around, and excellent construction. One of my favorites. I wanted a stainless steel finish, but the style I wanted was out of stock. If the crystal were sapphire I'd have a hard time putting it down! I'd happily pay more for the option. As it is the domed mineral is beautiful. Thanks for another excellent review. Spot on as always! 👍

As usual, pleasant and informative review with nice editing. Thank you for telling about the existence this watch. It is certainly a unique design, but Vostoks have always been special, both on the good and bad side. The screws on the case in each corner for some reason makes me think about the Royal Oak. The inside screw bezel reminicents a lot of older Seikos. The diving bezel on the older Amphibias were a bit naff, so nice touch putting it inside and the two crowns adds to the visuals. I also dont care for those open date windows, but yes, they have done something new with it. It also have a bit of 70's vintage look on the brown strap with white stitched. This watch is just... visually unique, what can I say.

Amphibias have generally always been about the ruggedness. I have a green dial manual winder from the 80's. It is rugged and have bad finish both outside and inside. But runs strong and it will probably run forever no matter how its treated. The wobbling of the crown when winding makes me nauseous every time, but miraculously, it doesnt fall apart.

This watch could be the best kept secret of Russian watches? Maybe this will make all the Vostok-haters change their mind about the brand? Maybe they have more exciting watches coming up? Maybe Putin is behind this? Make up more questions while I search the net for the best deal on a Vostok Amphibia Scuba :)

Awesome review once again! I share similar sentiments about this time piece. One thing's for sure this piece is unique and interesting. I still haven't decided if I will be keeping mine in my collection or not. But for now I'm definitely enjoying it.

Handsome watch dude. Still keeps the traditional Vostok shape somewhat too. The Lume on Vostok watches have never been great so this is something they should have seen to in their new watches. However, being a die hard fan of the big issue 😉
The price though is a wee bit high. At that price range I can add another 2 traditional Amphibias and maybe 1 Komandirskie to my collection 🤔😁

Beautiful but its designers obviously are not divers. I mean: white hands, white hour indices and white dial means a compact unreadable white point when diving. I would like you to do a video with it underwater as you did in Bahamas with the classic Amphibia and the fugitive orange bezel. I bet I'm totally right once you reach 20 or 30 meters. Thank you for a decent review. I just ordered up the silver face 'Black Sea' Amfibia as I was blown away with its looks. It has the same movement and I guess is comparable to an SKS. I love my Seiko's but these have good solid look too if you can let it slide with the accuracy and lume; I like them but will also be buying an old school version too as a must have. Thanks again.
