It's not true Bernie and Jayapal pushed the stimulus through with their pressure. What frightened the establishment was when Josh Hawley pushed for it too. It was a dangerous alliance that both parties don't want to see anymore of. R's and D's working towards economic populism scares the crap out of the donor class.

Yep, push him left AFTER you give him your vote and he gets everything he needs. How is that clearly going to work out...it ain't rocket science. 🚀

The most impressive display of unity in anything that even resembles recent history was a little more than a hundred years ago when, in a rare display of bipartisanship, the Republicans and Democrats worked tirelessly to pluck up 3rd parties like weeds and have since salted the earth behind them ensuring and effective monopoly on beltway politics that been incredibly and increasingly effective at faithfully serving American corporate interests. It's come at the cost of the working class, creating an ever expanding impoverished class while narrowing the middle class and in that place the wealth gap has gotten a large as its been since the great depression. We were hitting those numbers before covid.

The weakest amongst us made a trillion dollars during the pandemic while hard working Americans can't afford to maintain where they were at and more and more of them are joining the impoverished class to ask questions like, "food or utilities"

The positive effect covid has had for the everyday me and you is that school shooting plummeted but be we start cheering and patting one another's butt's the extreme right has seen a sharp rise which is directly a consequence of the 45th rhetoric.

And while Biden is certainly bringing about some relief, we know it won't go nearly far enough. And I know some of you will think, "well dang, aren't you being a little hard on them when the relief he'll bring won't just be better than nothing, it will actually bring some measure of relief and lower the death rate?" Well no, I buy that. Trump has lowered our standards by such a degree that what Biden's doing looks good. Here's the problem, when you measure that against what we need, it's hardly relief. It's just enough to keep the people from rioting. What we need is monthly relief checks to be paid out retroactive from the beginning of last year. We need rent payments, retroactive and covering us until at least the summer. We need medical care and forgiveness of medical debt and student loans. We need him to be a safeguard against the nefariousness of the establishment politicians but the problem is that he is one himself. We need an overhaul of the voting system that's not just more fair but that protects us from the widespread gerrymandering and voter manipulation. Apart of the latter if finding solutions to stop the widespread misinformation campaign that has predatory and has conditioned our neighbors and put them in a cult like mentality which wasn't all trump despite the report about 70% drop off because he wasn't the only one banned. He may have been one of the largest sources, he may have been the most influential but we wasn't the only one banned, not by a long shot. When these corporations finally stepped in, they wiped a huge part of the echo chamber that Trump was a part of helped create, incidentally.

Need I go on? So it doesn't matter what Biden does, it won't even come close to approaching, not just what we want but what we need. How are we supposed to take his administration seriously when they've seemed to have a collective memory loss when it comes to the opioid pandemic? Yeah, that's still raging and it's gotten worse with the combination of the isolation and so effing many of us not able to make ends meet, not even close. I read something the other day that said that 22 million Americans didn't have enough food sometime in the last 7 days.

I've done gone on a rant it seems so I'll finish this up. Historically, politicians have done very little for us by way of truly serving the American people. Fact of the matter is everytime we have had significant, widespread worthwhile victories that's have helped carve out a society that is a little more fair and equal, it's happened because we fought for it. Workers rights, child labor laws, civil rights, women's right to choose and to vote, gay rights and later lgbtq+ rights, it happens when we organize and force concessions out of the them. Even democrats, if they are not actively fighting against it, they are sitting on their hands until victory is all but assured which spurs them towards supporting us while not endangering their own agendas. And don't get me wrong, I would love to see the progressive caucus take over the democratic party but it seems to me that we are fast running out of time and we have forgotten how to fight, which don't get me started. /r

Glad we have progressives in Congress pressuring the Democratic establishment. Never give up the fight.

The Justice Democrats should continue to primary these corporate Democrats out of town if they want to move the agenda toward a more progressive direction.

It's really strange listening to Sam and Emma talk about "pressuring" Biden, and then talk about how historically, NO change ever came from people just being nice to each other. According to them, it isn't good strategy to be mean to politicians.

police reform and criminal justice reform need to be at the top of the list as well. After George Floyd and the global rise of the BLM movement... I mean, c'mon.
