'It Makes Absolutely No Sense!' | Fleur Hassan-Nahoum On UK Suspending Some Arms Export To Israel

The Israeli Foreign Ministry's Fleur Hassan-Nahoum reacts to the UK Government suspending around 30 arms export licences to Israel amid concerns a “clear risk” exists that they could be used to breach international humanitarian law.

Foreign Secretary David Lammy said a review conducted by the UK Government could not “arbitrate on whether or not Israel has breached international humanitarian law” in Gaza, but ministers have a legal duty to review export licences.

Mr Lammy said the criteria states the Government will not issue export licences if there is a “clear risk that the items might be used to commit or facilitate serious violations of international humanitarian law”.

Fleur says: “This obsession… with Israel is only a modern form of antisemitism.”

Some of us can only apologise for this government decision, today of.all days, and say how very sorry we are for the disappointment and anger felt by Israel. Many of us in the UK support you wholeheartedly and are deeply ashamed of this political move by our government.

We've got problems of our own in the UK. The money we keep throwing at other countries can be and should be better spent elsewhere in the UK. People don't pay their taxes to support everywhere else. They pay their taxes to support Britain which hasn't been the case.

Perhaps you could comment on illegal settlers taking advantage of the war to steal land in the West Bank. The number of illegal settlements increased by 29 last year, more than any previous year. Source BBC.

The Balfour Declaration actually protected Arab rights in the region. It is the old problem of Nationalism an "Religious Hegemony" that has caused the problems in the last centuries. The one person who could have (and wanted to create) a "homeland" for Jews more than two centuries ago, Napoleon Bonaparte, was actually prevented from doing so by the British, whose war against "Revolutionary France" was ironically funded (at least partly) by the Rothschilds.

So, the need for a "Jewish Homeland" was an issue more than a century before the "Balfour Declaration". In 1799 Napoleon issued his proclamation of a need and a justification for a "Jewish Homeland". He was aware of the sickening "Antisemitism" in Europe, and emancipated French Jews, gave them equality before the law, freed them from slavery and removed the "forced identification".

Napoleon, overall, was a "good egg" - while most of the rest of Europe was still actively persecuting Jews.

What is needed for Palestinians is something similar to the "Balfour Declaration". A statement by those in power that a "Palestinian Homeland" should be sought; "it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews and Palestinians in any other country." (adapted quote of the Balfour Declaration).

40, 000 + dead civilians. This has nothing to do with religion, people are just concerned about the utter lack of care that Israel is showing when it comes to collateral damage. The woman on the right is pikachu face-ing at the most predictable reaction imaginable. This interview is just theatre.

Not supporting Israel's extremist government is "anti-semitism". Got it.

As a Brit and someone who is neutral, the UK has every right to stop arm shipments to Israel and Israel needs to respect our country's decision.Israel has to accept the fact that world opinion is turning against Israel, perhaps Israel must ask themselves why ?
