Today, they're going to use a product called Apivar. It's a chemical treatment. They can't have honey supers on when treating it. It's an easy treatment, though somewhat lengthy.

The way this treatment operates is by ripping the two strips apart, just like this.

When they open the colony, they're going to use two strips per brood box or one strip for every five frames of brood. They'll place two strips in the top and two in the bottom box. This way, they'll have four full seams undergoing treatment.

It's a contact treatment, so the bees need to walk over it to receive the treatment. But it's highly effective, making it a great option.
