M57 Ring Nebula at 240X thru Image Intensifier in Real Time

Показать описание
The famous Ring Nebula in the constellation Lyra is shown. Taken from Mount Pinos, California using a Gen 3 image intensifier (night vision) looking into a Takahashi Mewlon 250 telescope. Magnification is 240X. Camera used is a Panasonic GH3. Can you make out the central star winking in and out? This star originally produced this planetary nebula long ago.

Hi. The intensifier is an ITT Generation 3 thin-film GaAs image intensifier. The spectral response covers visual green out to near IR (around 400 to 900 nm). A Panasonic GH3 camera was coupled afocally to the ocular end of the image intensifier housing using a Voigtlander 17.5mm f0.95 lens specific to the micro 4/3 camera format. Attempting to capture the Ring nebula in the X-ray band may be difficult depending on whether X-rays are overlay absorbed by the atmosphere.

Nice, what image intensifier did you use? I was looking for an Xray type of camera.
