I used to drift around with my great grandfather's Toyota Corolla (and thats where i learnt how to drive) and now I drive a Toyota Supra Mk4 '98. Our family's car culture is based on Toyota

1. Only do this on a track in a RWD car with a rear locking differential.

2. Turn hard and then hit throttle to initiate the drift. It will not drift if yoy hit the throttle before turning.

3. Most importantly, stay on the throttle until you've gained traction or else you will likely go off the track or into the wall. While drifting look where you want to go and let the wheel come back and catch it and adjust until you've gained traction going straight.

4. Once you've gained traction, you can let off the throttle.

Keiichi Tsuchiya would disagree with you on needing a lot of power to drift.

believe it or not, i've been working on this with my all wheel drive 3 series e90 (still getting the hang of it). mostly i wait till pavement is wet, and my tires are currently well worn. i've been turning off traction control when i remember. also, once it starts snowing, i'll hit the empty parking lots to practice.

You should be able to maintain drift at that power level. Just clutch kick as the engine starts to bog down.
Great videos btw. I really enjoy them.

You should also mention, if you get caught on the road by the police doing drifting or power slides, the fines are in the $5000+ range and your car insurance will triple or quadruple with the possibility of being banned from driving for a couple years. However, in the wintertime, the skill to recover from a slide is crucial.

Awesome tutorial! I wish I could afford a proper drift car, but here I am fucking around on my sim setup and the occasional empty parking lot right before i replace my tires. Jokes aside, I'm in school right now for automotive tech, and my first project is gonna be a drift 350Z. I have a track about 30 mins away from me, and I hope to eventually do some racing there.
