A 20-minute review (in Thai) on the two textbooks:

[1] Daniela Witten, Gareth James, Robert Tibshirani, and Trevor Hastie, An Introduction to Statistical Learning: With Applications in R, Springer, 2013
[2] Jerome H. Friedman, Robert Tibshirani, and Trevor Hastie, The Elements of Statistical Learning, 2nd Edition, Springer

Conclusion: [2] is recommended for a beginner. The writing style motivates reader to consider several aspects of a method and allow readers to have intuitive understanding. Demonstration with R codes is useful and help readers to test on some hands-on experiments. The exercises consists of conceptual questions, and experiments based on simulation and read data sets. [1] is great for researchers who would like to read theoretical concepts. Some derivation steps may be skipped and it is challenging to find out on your own. It also captures recent literature at the time and the exercises are very challenging from theoretical point of view.
