Nice video. Good to see them from you again.
Look forward to seeing the other vSAN vids and the network ones you mentioned. 👌

I am running two cluster vmware / vsan with 7 nodes each. Was running ProxMox on them and then switched to vmware to better support the newer Dell servers. With these videos it gives me better ideas on networking setup so may go back to ProxMox once the vmware support subscription runs out in 2023. Yeah not happy about them dropping SD support with v7 series when it's been the norm for so long.

Lucky I'm on VMware ESXi 7.0.2 U2 (build-18538813) as it's been patched to reduce the wear and tear on the SD cards but still on borrowed time with this setup. Sad thing is the cluster JUST got built with v7 only to find out a month later of the problems from other vmware admins.

Anyways, cool videos!

“Hey Mario, Here we GO!”

Nice vid Buddy!! I like the new place and how clean it looks! And see I told you you needed 2 of the switches 😜. Maybe I’ll sell you mine haha 🤷🏻

Careful with SD's on ESXi 7, they are more write intensive now compared to 6.7 I've seen a lot of people have issues just a FYI.

Which model are the APC PDUs you have vertically mounted in your rack?

How loud is your Arista DCS-7050QX under normal load? Looking to pick up the 32S myself maybe

Just stumbled upon your channel. I love this. I have worked in a large data center environment for years but not in a role. I love the videos, but I would love to know more about the "why" behind what you are setting up. Again, I am not complaining. I really enjoy it, but I would love to know more about the engineering decisions behind what you are doing.

IMO it would be better to move that half height card into the 8x slot, and use both the 16x slots for two, 4 way bifurcated NVME storage. You won't be able to peg the multiple 40 gig interfaces with hardrives or ssds alone, you will need NVME to do that effectively.

You put dual sd card. Whats that module called does it support nvme. Also did you put in Raid if so does perc controller see that cards.

those sd cards are going to do terribly under truenas. They've changed how they manage the boot disks and it eats through poor quality flash from USB and SD cards. You're going to want to get NVME inexpensive disks. I got 128gb ones for $20 and a $14 pcie card for them.
