Right Back To Where We Started

Decided to record the original theme song to the hockey classic movie "Slap Shot" 1977. For whatever reason, this song was removed from later versions of the movie available for rental (at that time) on VHS and even later dates when it went to digital. I'm not sure why, it was a big hit for Maxine Nightingale here in the USA and it'll always be synonymous (for me) when it comes to this classic comedy where we were introduced to the Hanson brothers. Three brothers who helped put the Charlestown Chiefs back on the map of minor league hockey contenders.

I remember watching this movie in the theater with my brothers. I don't think we have ever laughed so hard together, before or since.

The real-life inspirations for the Hanson Brothers are Jeff Carlson (born July 20, 1953), Jack Carlson (born August 23, 1954), and Steve Carlson (born August 26, 1955). The brothers were all born in Virginia, Minnesota and first played together on the Marquette Iron Rangers hockey team in Marquette, Michigan.

I loved this movie so much growing up. It really fits for fans of the 70s NHL.

As someone who grew up playing hockey in the 60s and 70s, I loved this film. My dad built a rink for me every winter, in the backyard and my elementary school 1 mile away had 3 rinks. I even skated to school. Thanks for a great memory.

Saw this in a theatre 2 nights ago. there were about 60 of us, and mostly in the same age range(I`m 67). There were about 8 to 10 people wearing Hanson Jerseys. We all laughed our @$$es off all through the entire movie !There are so many great character actors with roles in this that I remember well over the years. If you lived in the 70s, you really get a treat by seeing this again, looking backwards at all the crazy stuff we wore and the hairdoos and so on. Anybody can get the humor of it, but not as well as those of us who lived

Paul Newman was a great actor who is sorely missed. RIP TO A LEGEND IN HOLLYWOOD.

It's sad and tragic that there are entire generations for whom the term "Hanson Brothers" means the "MMMBop" kids...

Those Hanson Bros. skating towards the camera looked like three smiling Terminators moving in for the kill.

The greatest hockey movie ever. I was in highschool when it came out and my buddies and I went to the theater to see it. To say we laughed is an understatement. "Putting on the foil coach!" Classic!!!

I remember this on tv when I was very young. Loved the song and the movie. Hanson brothers were hilarious! This movie and Wayne Gretzky made me fall in love with hockey. Takes talent to sling a puck across a field of ice on skates. : )

Slapshot was probably the first ever movie about ice hockey we ever saw in South Africa.
I remembered parts of this film from about 1978, but couldn't recall the name of the movie until I saw this clip.

Ironic. I'm visiting home in Johnstown and just went to a Tomahawks game tonight in the War Memorial. I grew up here and have pictures with the Chiefs as a kid during the actual parade. By far the greatest hockey movie of all time. Hockeyville USA (Johnstown Pa)

Player Jr. A in. the1980s, this movie was considered gold! Still hilarious, small budget, great results.
