Of course, the Yankees would love to sign him. But the point is moot -- Boras and Soto will play the game for maximum $$$, which means free agency. Even if Soto wants to remain, that is his best route to squeezing out maximum dollars from Hal. I don't see any of this as "news, " sorry.

MLB needs to put a year limit on contracts. These long term contracts turn teams stagnant once these guys stop producing and not reflect their salary, which leads to budget players for the rest of the line-up.

Boras most likely won't allow it in season. Yankees have a long-standing policy of no in season contract extensions. I'd be surprised if it got done.

I’ve been watching baseball regularly from early-mid 80s. Soto is a special player! Like few I’ve seen that are multifaceted threats. Losing him is an L regardless of his destination. Cut ties with Stanton and his cancer of a contract

The Mets would have to go WAY above and beyond. It's a second rate organization. Much better owner than past eras but I think Soto wants something more than money and a good owner.
