I’ve been watching these shorts about guitar playing on and off for Over a year.

I appreciate yours greatly. You were humble and clear and kind and clearly want the best for us.

I never get the impression you’re trying to convince us how cool you are or cultivate some kind of persona.

Thank you.

The way I see it, depending on where you start you get two of shape 1, 3 of shape two and then two of shape 3, then you go back to shape 1.
That’s a bit garbled but try this.Try starting on low E with 1 shape 2, next on the a string use a shape 2, your d will be a shape 3, your g another shape 3.your next two will be both shape 1(moved up a fret due to the b string), if you had a 7 string your next shape would be a shape 2.
If you start lowE with 3 shape two E thru D, you then play 2 shape 1 on g and B sttings(with 1 fret shift for b string)and finish with a shape 1 on the high E.
Wherever you are, going up theres 3 shape 2 followed by 2 shape 3 followed by 2 shape 1 and then after that to shape 2. That pattern always follows.
You can start anywhere in the pattern on any given string as long as you follow the pattern.

Great vid. 3-note per string is the way I teach both major and minor because they both apply to the same pattern by simply moving your root position.

If you know the Aeolian mode aka Natural Minor scale (important to learn), then you already know it. Still, you may not have played it in exactly this same order. He is just mixing two shapes. In CAGED, first shape is E shape of A. Then it goes into the G shape. Or, shape 1 going into shape 2. Some teach it as shape 2 going into 3. I call shape 1 where the root is on the top, thick E string and ascending from there. It's easier for me to remember that way. Learn all your scales first. Major and Minor Penta. Blues scale, Natural Minor or Aeolian which is just like a Minor Penta with only 2 extra named notes.

I find it easier to play it (From String 6 to 1st string decending:)
A-BC
D-EF
G-A
BC-D
EF-G
A-BC
which is how I always saw others do it... until now 😅
It fits better with the other shapes to make the scale stretch over the whole fretboard later on.
but I will try this to see if it's actually easier/ gives me new ideas

How about scales using two notes on the top and bottom strings and three on all of the others. Sweep picking scales.

I don't now many Guitarists that use 134 for full tone stretches ... could you explain your reasoning for this?
