It may reduce your loneliness if you are kinda narcissist so you always feel lonely already. if you are not a narcissist, using social media means taking yourself victims of narcissists or making yourself narcissitic victims, i think.

I’m always talking to myself on every social media platform it’s depressing because I keep making content to be noticed but I can’t get any views or likes or comments

Couldn't agree more, so many people obsessed and addicted to social media . Everywhere most people are like tech zombies, ignoring the actual world around them. No wonder you hear about a whole raft of problems involving behaviour, attitude, stress, I could go on. Regarding the ultimate issue, so called mental health seems to be a national obsession, in my opinion the new " bad back " . Don't get me wrong there will be an element of genuine cases, but the vast majority are simply leaping on the band wagon and taking advantage. The new gen, who wants an easy, lazy existence.

The way i see it.
It has to be balance, consume and produce. If you consume in social media you better produce something in there as well. Its making sure you are consuming with purpose and that is to be able to produce something....

Cellular Girl
Some boys tweet and some boys post
But I subscribe the most
Since I don’t tell them face to face
I cannot find solace

They may selfie. They may fake it
I can’t seem to quit
When I compare, and I’m impressed
I simply get depressed

Refrain
‘Cause we are living in a cellular world
And I am a cellular girl
You know that we are living in a cellular world
And I am just a cellular girl

Some boys follow. Some unfriend
I’m texting till the end
Since I’m addicted to my phone
I’m left here all alone

Some boys crash and some boys fall
‘Cause they can’t see the wall
Social media is my bliss
But real life I miss

Repeat refrain

Comparing socials to the alphabet and to virtual reality is wrong on so many levels. While you were at it you could even say "emails aren't that bad". You totally missed the point of the problem of the social media nowadays.

Good things has been said. But I doubt the metaverse would be a common trend.

The commemtns about systematic racism or the commonality of it on social media. Is just not there or so slim. This video could have address more common issues.

I think the videos YouTube keep showing me are nothing but designed to cause depression

Correlation not causations.. the cause lies within the depressed person and the depressed person is also responsible for being depressed... A depressed person doesn't want to hear that, just as it doesn't want to listen to anybody that doesn't speak of or out of the past (like the depressed person does).

In the future, depression will show itself more and more (hiding behind happy faces) - giving drugs to depressed people will be a way bigger business than today but no cure will be found in substances...
