the finale made me so sad with so many open questions 😭 but glad to know they both found happiness and success through the other ❤️ (with part of my heart crying bc they are not together but i can accept this ending 💔). 25, 21 is such a special drama 🥺

This kind of relationship is not supposed to end this way, it's a kind of love you can meet once in a life time

Okay, I'm going to give my 2 cents on the ending and the series as a whole. I see that many people are saying how it was completely out of character for Hee-do to just give up on the relationship and that the writers ruined her character development, but I don't think that's true at all. Even though throughout the series we saw Hee-do as this bubbly, social and outgoing character that never gives up and always fights for the things she wants, there was also little parts in the drama where we could see how much trauma she carried within herself and how hurt she was from the person she was supposed to feel most loved by - her mom. Forever lonely, always waiting, being let down constantly. She didn't want that future for herself and this is the only future Baek Yijin could provide for her. Heedo has been fighting for that relationship since day one, she even waited for him more than 6 months, believing every word he said to her, always trying to let her support reach him, but who was there to support her? No one. Her mother was constantly busy, Yurim was in Russia, Yijin was in New York and everyone else was doing their own thing, busy with their lives. Heedo had no support system whatsoever. Her only place of comfort was fencing and the hope that Yijin will come back. Then he tells her out of nowhere that he has applied for a position in the New York department. Imagine how betrayed and broken Hee-do must have felt. This was truly so unfair towards her. Giving her promises for the past 6 months that he couldn't keep and doing the same thing to her that her mother did to her - saying sorry and leaving her feeling disappointed yet again.
Even thought Yijin disappointed me a little for the lack of communication on his behalf I am by no means saying that he is at fault that the relationship ended. In fact no one is at fault. Heedo chose herself, she didn't want to relive her childhood trauma. Yijin also chose himself and the goal he had in mind since day 1 - bringing his family back together. He chose his family, his dream, his goal over love. The same way Hee-do chose herself and her dream. You have to sacrifice one thing for the sake of the other, you can't have it all. Yijin went from the bottom to the top and after 10 years of hard work, dedication and sacrifices, he finally reunited with his family.
The truth is that their love was so beautiful while it lasted, I truly hope I experience something like this one day. But the times they lived in and the circumstances they faced left them with no choice, but to break up. Not because they didn't love each other, not because they didn't want to be together, but because this would both hold them back and they will be a burden to each other. Some people said that Yijin could have asked Heedo to move with him in New York, however, this is like asking Heedo to give up her dream of fencing for the sake of being with him. And this is something Yijin could never do to her. This is just plain selfish and completely out of his character. He knows how much fencing means to Heedo and what a special place it holds in her heart.
My heart goes out to both of them honestly, they didn't deserve this. However, it was the most realistic and logical ending. They were their first loves and  there was so much love left for them to experience, but sadly the circumstances they were facing didn't allow it. Little by little, they grew apart. However, life goes on and their relationship is now just a fond memory to look back on. I'm not sure that it is possible to move on fully after experiencing love like this, because their time together was truly precious. I am rooting for both of them, because they deserve to feel loved and happy even if they are no longer together. Sadly they've went into completely different directions of life and it is very unlikely they cross paths ever again.
I'm not sure I will ever be able to move on from this drama, it affected me in a way that nothing has ever did and their story will forever live in my heart. I cannot explain how sad and empty it makes me feel to see 2 people who have such love and admiration for each other part ways this way.
I think that the song 25 21 depicts what they meant to each other perfectly so I recommend everyone to go and listen to it❤

Edit: ty for the support. I also wanted to add sth. I see that people were disappointed that we didn't see who Hee-do husband is, but I don't think that this would have added sth to the story whatsoever. The drama was about Hee-do's youth and her love story with Yijin - knowing who Heedo's husband is doesn't add anything worthwhile to the plot and it would just change the focus of what the drama is about. I think mentioning Hee-do has a husband was for the sake of showing that life goes on and people move on

It was actually sad. The thing is, their relationship was so pure and honest with a great foundation. Relationships in real life aren’t like that, so the ending made no sense. If the writer wanted to give a realistic ending then they should have made the relationship realistic first. Sigh, I’ll pretend the first half of ep 15 was their ending. Good vid though!

When you're young and naive, you're living in the present so of course they're going to be happy and living in the moment. Baek Yi-Jin said I love you to all his ex-girlfriends too. He was young then, and he still has a lot of growing to do while becoming a top broadcaster. Just because your boyfriend says I want to love you forever and that he's happy when he sees you doesn't mean this will last forever. This holds true to real life. Cherish the moments you have, but don't set expectations. I think that's why Ji-Woong and Yu-Rim lasted. They didn't set any expectations or had expectations, they just gave it their all and went with the flow so that's why they worked out even in long distance relationship.

Although I was ok with them not ending up together but I'm unhappy that they didn't even tell us who minchae's dad is. At least that would give me some closure 😆
Anyway, I would be lying if I said I wasn't rooting for them to be married. I was definitely surprised that Yurim and Jiyung ended up married. But I shouldn't because unlike Heedo and Yi-jin, those two were completely honest about their feelings. Yurim was also emotionally mature compared to Heedo. I thought Yi-jin and Heedo would pull through after going through a lot. I was hoping they would prove us that relationships are hard. Both people will mature together and separately but never let go.

Anyway, the show felt a bit rushed. Maybe 20 episodes would've worked better. I mean are they all still friends or have they completely grown apart? Maybe show us Minchae going back to ballet to start her own journey. Also, what was the last clip at the end of the credits all about? Will there be a season two?

Am I the only one who feels like the show left us hanging?

Bellissima storia, non avrebbe senso fare una 2 stagione, però mi sarebbe piaciuto vedere anche la vita di Beck adulto
