Yes. You select what subtitles you want before the game starts, then can jump back and forth between English and Japanese voice acting during the game itself. It *may* be visa versa, but one way or the other, you CAN change it.

One of the most endearing games I've ever played. Oliver is such a delightful, polite and honourable protagonist, the music is extraordinarily well-realized and complements every inch of the game, and the humour and character bring a truly distinctive flare that coalesces with everything else this magical and majestic RPG has inside of it. Truly one of the best JRPGs out there.

lol I know. I found it helpful to use the Triangle button to do the "everyone attack" dealio to keep her from doing that or wasting all her mana on buffs for a simple random encounter.

Guys I am very confused I just started the game for the first time, and it is playing in standard definition aspect ratio 4:3 not full screen. What is going on??

I (almost) wholeheartedly agree with this review, it is a masterpiece. Except the AI-part. It's uncompetent as fuck sometimes. First of all, they can't defend on their own, which is REALLY a problem until you've given the option to "All out defend". Which is way too late in the game, btw. And that also works rather poorly at times.  Your buddies constantly do poor choices on their own, going head on towards bosses even if they or their familiars do 1 HP damage up close, thus killing themselves very efficiently. If you try to change their active familiar to one that suits the battle at hand, they just change it back to a shitty one right away if you take charge of Oliver, or any other teammate, after it. It's frustrating at times, to say the least. Especially when the difficulty ramps up.
