Best Value Photographer's FF Mirrorless Camera | Nikon Z5 Initial Thoughts

While I spend most of my time making videos, I still like to have a camera focused on the photography side to go along with the gear I use mostly for video. Having a tool with a good amount of physical controls and features like custom modes definitely helps. It recently started with the Canon EOS M5 I bought used after the M50 with its limited controls, but I decided to switch the M5 to the Nikon Z5. Why the change? Let's talk about it.

Nikon Z5 Digital Camera:

Moving forward I'll be adapting older film era lenses to the camera. I might check out the Canon EF to Z mount adapters. I'll also consider native Z mount lenses eventually if I end up keeping the Z5 long term.

I have a Z5. you should really consider the 24-200 VR f/4-6.3 Z lens. Phenomenal piece of glass for a low price. That lens with that body is the best "carry everywhere" combo. I found that since my kit came in at $3000 Canadian dollars, I dont really care if I beat it up everyday, cause I do, and I assume ill be replacing with the same in two years. Great video! you, not the camera, I dont shoot video at all. I have a P-1000 if I want any video (its a fun camera and actually doesn't take bad shots at all)

Scott, thanks for the video. If you go with an EF-Z adapter, be sure to pick up the Fringer. It’s best in class.

I don't know if Magic Lantern works on the M cameras, but the clip limit isn't an issue. I picked up a 100D and stuck ML on it. Works great!

I have some old lenses, M42, FD, and Pentax-K mount.
Is ibis working with M42 lense mounted?
In photography and video?
How is the feeling that you use old lenses in a FF body?
I use my old lenses adapted on my crop camera, samsung nx500. The crop factory cuts much of the lens capture. How is it on the FF Nikon z5?
Have you got any still images or video with Μ42 lens to see?

One more think, can you use the Nikon z5 as a web camera as fuji's do?
