"Epigenetics" always can effect change. It does not stop effecting people at a particular time. For instance, males are effected during pre-natal periods. Another way to look at the general field of epigenetics is to say that the biochemical resources in the body determine how the body functions. Some functions can shut off or turn on due to the presence or absence of certain biochemical combinations. So, genes do not "have an effect." They create the capacity for organization, like a blueprint.

I liked her comments at the beginning about looking at a wide variety of kinds of research. I was disappointed after a while though and stopped. Ideas like 5 servings /day of fruits/veggies simply are not supported by holistic science. The easiest issue is that some cultures thrive with very low levels of plant food, then that in traditional cultures, year-round daily intake would vary by season. From an anthropology perspective, her string of presumptions soon seemed "unsustainable."

@openuniverse2003 What the heck? A liberal is someone who believes in progressive values - not a catch all term for ideas you don't like. I imagine the woman who gave the presentation would consider herself a liberal.

Leave the stereotypes to ideologues like Glen Beck.
