Yeah yeah…my audio was all over the place. Sorry about that.

This is a cool technique I learned for starting fires in a wood stove, so I thought I’d pass it along. You get brownie points if you end up watching the whole thing, lol, because it’s a longer one.

I thought to check out your page and this was the first video that caught my eye remembering the hippies that came to Alaska in their back to the land movement in the 70's. One of the things that made me popular among them was my ability to always get a wood stove fired up. You have a very pleasant manner and I'll be watching more of your videos.

I can’t believe you played in that stove and your hands are spotless clean.

That is so counterintuitive to me!
But I know people wo do the top down burn on camp fires and in hobo stoves.

One of these days I'll try it!

Hi Milkmaid, if you throw a handful of salt with iodine in it, it keeps the creosote from building inside the pipe. Every 10 or 15 fires worked for me. Nice video lady 👍😀

Not bad. I’ve done it the other way all my life. Works for me. There’s no wrong way unless the fire goes out. We don’t use soft woods in our stove though. Soft woods creosote up your chimney faster. Not a problem as long as you keep an eye on it. Chimney fires aren’t anything to mess around with. Nice job on the fire. 👍👍

I've heated with wood for over 50 years and a few years back I changed to top down fires. They take off a lot quicker.

BOOOoom!!!! in one video @The Milkmaid, destroys that whole narrative how "Skinny chicks can't keep you warm in the winter!" LOL!!! JK Very Awesome Idea!! I usually just pour gas on everything, light it then hobble away at a brisk pace as it and Lights up the ground and everything! Keep them teaching videos ah'comin!!!

Great job Milkmaid, my dad did it like that, mom teepee style. I was taught bothways. However birch bark was our ignitor.

My way which i fin very effective is to put all the small stuff on bottom building it up the whole way to the top. I pack sheets of newspapers into the ash tray box at least 6 sheets. I lights it, the draw off the chimney really sets them on fire, the flames go through the grate and instantly there is flames climbing through all the timber. Great video though.

Interesting concept that I’ve used in a similar manner when I have a cold flu & chimney and I’m having difficulty getting the coal stove started. If you build a bottom up fire, just don’t let your ash stick out. 🤣

That was interesting. I've never started a fire that way, and I've been burning wood or coal, most of my life....
