I like that she says it's always been Janelle, even before dirty computer. People need to look back to their older selves and say "you were always dope, you did the best you could back then, you were deserving of love" That is Janelle saying all her past work is valid and beautiful because it was her at the time...even if it was a metaphorical story that she seemed to be hiding behind, she was expressing herself the way she could at the time, she put all of her heart and soul into it, and she was beautiful. I'm very glad we have dirty computer and it's amazing and a new level of openness, but Janelle has always been dope and pushed herself to express new and challenging ideas.

I broke down in tears when Janelle was talking about her inspirations for the project. I've felt like an useless dirty computer in a need for fixing for so many years and to see her recognise people like me and turn it into art is so inspiring.

I like how Janelle is very thoughtful in how she answers questions. I can tell that she doesn't just spit out responses.. she really gives thought to the question first. I really enjoyed the film and I plan to watch it again because it is so inspiring.

im glad she had her intentions clear and wasnt concerned in pleasing everyone with this album. just being comfortable with pissing other people off... comes back to what she said, "even if it makes others uncomfortable, i will love who i am"

At the 27 minute mark is why I think she is amazing. Her music is fantastic, but she is a good soul. An original, an artist, an intellectual, but with a heart that speaks volumes.

That last stare back at the end..was very Prince..the very end of Purple Rain..at the close of the film, he sang Baby I'm a star...the movie closes with Prince's stare back shot ..his look back. Perfect Janelle. Awsome production and message. Love you so much!

When Janelle is asked about the point in the film where she looks right into the camera, and what she meant for us to see at that moment? What I got from it was, "Come With Me! Stop waiting for something to jar you off the couch where you all are playing video games or on your smartphones! Get the hell up, pay attention to what is going on around you and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!" Love this Janelle, so much :)

Jane is a free-thinking, autonomous, polyamorous pansexual. Ari is a free-thinking, autonomous, polyamorous lesbian. While I did watch Ari's MMF reaction and heard her say that she hasn't been a very big fan of Ms. Monae's _music_ previously, I can understand selecting her to do the interview, as well as understand her current "gushing." This kind of representation isn't ubiquitous—this is the closest many, including Ari, is going to get to being represented in mainstream media. Is the interview awkward? In parts, yes. Could the questions have been better? Yeah, probably. But do I oust Ari as a fake fan? No. An incredibly green one. maybe, but not fake. She stated in her MMF reaction that she has always been a fan of Ms. Monae as a woman—just not a huge fan of her sound. I know what this would have meant for a forever fANDROID to conduct this interview, but I can also imagine what it was like for Ari to interview a woman who showcased that her form of love was valid. That her image is valid. That's how I took her "huge fan" statement—as "I am a fan of your message and the things you stand for." This may not be the interview we were expecting, but it was still insightful, and I am personally thankful this is an experience we can all share. Let's start spreading that love Ms. Monae spoke on among this comment section.

I felt like she was always wound up in a box. Now she is free and out of the box. Beautiful job Janelle. You're beautiful.

Thank you Janelle, the world needed this. This is what real art is, inspiring and changing the person experiencing it.
