Freak Show is the saddest season of AHS in my opinion. I literally cried multiple times on numerous episodes. Freak Show captures the corruption, malevolence, and viciousness of human-beings exploiting others and taking advantage of those who are in a disadvantage. It displays what’s like being a social outcast where other people discriminate against you & ridicule you. It also shows love and rapport among people and family. Jessica Lange is incredible. I wish she’d come back to AHS!

I watched an interview once with Jessica Lange a few years ago and they asked her why season 4 was her last season for AHS and her answer was “I just feel that I could never top Elsa Mars, she was my favorite character I’ve ever done and I wanted to leave the show on a high note”.
She was absolutely right about that. I loved her as Fiona Goode, but Elsa was just such a strange character and I think she killed it!
