This scene is dynamic multi layered perfection . I didn't expect the surprisingly wonderful, and thouroughly deadpan singing by Sarah Paulson ( here topping her previous AHS characterization as Cordelia) particularly in her expression of the pathos and sad dejection of the less vocal sister (whose lack of talent makes her doubly hurt as earlier she showed a lively interest in musicals), the garishly made up face of Jessica Lange emoting a seething jealousy and envy of the twins naive talent, and all this contrasting with a bit of subtle erotic tension between the young male freak and the twins, not to mention all the background freaks laughing and enjoying themselves in the audience!
