Heard of them and moved with my family from the USA in the 80s to live and work with the Garifuna for 20 years. My father died in 2005 and was buried in that land he came to love. We were in la ceiba, san juan pueblo, tela. I love their culture.

I love this video! I’m Honduran-America but have noticed that much of Honduran culture is Afro-Influenced by the Garifuna People, and I couldn’t help but dig deeper and I’m so happy I did! ❤️

Wow Sly Thank you so much for this making this video about the Garifuna Cultural Center, I was so caught up that day enjoying speaking with you and the rest of the guests, I forgot you were filming. My sister Nora (the woman in the yellow t-shirt sharing facts) and I started this project in 2016, just five years after we moved from New York to Roatan. I just cried after watching this video because we are finally in alignment with the mission that God and our ancestors have for us. Seremein numada (thank you friend in Garifuna)

Thank you for sharing their story. I live amongst them and they are amazing people... very loving, happy, and welcoming. Their men LOVE women and are very passionate.🤣. And it's a safe community to live in. They Treat me as family. I love it because it's affordable living in a beautiful setting and they look like me so I blend in well. I love the fresh food, the abundance of fruit and the scenery in their villages. I have a little apartment and I've spent of my last few years amongst them. We are known as the back to nature group. It's just heaven on earth.

The way she described and the look of that cassava bread is just like the process of the injera made in Ethiopia.
