American Airlines Flight 587 (2001): This Airbus A300 crashed shortly after takeoff from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City. The crash was attributed to the first officer's overuse of the rudder controls in response to wake turbulence. All 260 people on board and five people on the ground were killed.

In response, the FAA raised the required number of flight hours to get an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate, resulting in a shortage of pilots. I know several private pilots who gave up on their dream when they saw how much it would cost to get the required hours.

American Airlines flight 587 crashed into queens New York after one of the pilots overreacted to wake turbulence, which is basically turbulence from another aircraft. Sadly, 265 people died.

My opinion it was terriost. It was right after sept 11. A pilot has never snapped off the rudder before this….or after
