"Cats Protection has a lot of mature cats in need of a home and they don’t need to be high maintenance, " says Flossie's owner Vicki. "All they want is a cuddle and somewhere warm to sleep. I’m glad that Cats Protection matched me with Flossie; adopting her has been rewarding for us both." 😻

What really brought me to tears was the fact that she adopted her, which means somebody got rid of her at some point. I'm so glad she has a home.

Fun fact: the oldest ever recorded cat is Creme Puff, who was born on 3 August, 1967 and passed away on 6 August, 2005. A cat being able to reach the age of 38 is just insane!

My cat Anakin lived 20 years - I was with him at his birth and with him at his death.

I had a cat who lived to age 20. She had really “outlived” her body - she was blind, deaf, had a tumor in one eye, and was arthritic. I finally had her put down to relieve her of her afflictions, but I cried like a baby when that awful day came.

Keep in mind this is the oldest Cat with a birth certificate, and there's more cats without one than with one. But this is very impressive none the less.

If you really take care of your cat, take it to the vet regularly, and they have no underlying problem or sudden thing that would shorten their life, I believe you can get your cat to at least 18 years old. My cat is 13 and acts like she’s still 5!

Honestly it’s heartwarming over the fact she adopted that cat just to give her the best final few years of her life. Not about the world record. Now that’s what I call a great owner

My little buddy passed away Jan 6, 2022, he was 21.5 years old.
An orange and white male, a gentle old fella who loved to keep warm and comfy all day.
Best pet I ever had and think about him often.

My old boi just died due to a tumor at the estimated age of 27 years old. We didn't have a birth certificate, so we couldn't proof it. He was such a loving and happy cat, also a true little fighter, he survived falling from a high cat tree and lived with liver and heart problems during his last years
Edit: He had mild age related kidney and heart problems, not liver.
Also thanks for all the kind words and condolences, I really appreciate it!

I'm 25. Crazy to think that this cat is older than me.

I had a cat that passed away at 26. Senior cats are so loving and appreciative.

My oldest is 20, has diabetes and thyroid issues. Has had to have shots twice a day for 6 1/2 years now. She’s my baby and gets everything she wants. My 2 rescue cats and my 3 year old get everything they want too, but my oldest gets everything first. She’s the reason I’m still alive today, I couldn’t allow for someone else to care for her. So I chose to stay alive and care for her, 11 years later I’m still catering to her needs. She would die without me and couldn’t imagine her suffering from me not being there for her. She made me put down the shotgun with her constant meowing and pawing at my face. She was telling me not to go. I understood at that moment we both needed each other to live. I seeked help and everyday I’m reminded how grateful I am because of her.

My oldest cat is 22 and still going strong! I always wonder if she'd be able to live for 5 or 6 more years. Her name is Docinho (Sweetie in english)

Just lost my cat after 19years. Grew up with him and felt like losing a little brother. What a gem He was and had a really nice life.
Glad to see ppl having the courage to adopt senior cats, knowing you're not with them for a long time.

My cat that adopted me in 1990 lived 21 years. Then my last one passed a couple months ago from organ failure at 14. Was completely devasted as she was family to me and I pampered her beyond belief. Guys do have feelings too. Still can't adopt yet because the pain is still there. Animals are the shining light in this decaying world we live in and should be treasured.

This kitty was born the same year as one of my kitties. My old geezer born in 1995 and he sadly died in 2017 at the age of 22. I miss that old man.
