Corduroy is crowned the oldest living cat - Spotlight

Meet Corduroy (b. 1 August 1989) the oldest living cat, aged 25 years 339 days as of 6 July 2015. Corduroy lives with his owner, Ashley Reed Okura (USA) in Sisters, Oregon, USA.

The Reed family have owned Corduroy since he was a kitten, and Ashley was just 7 years old.

I had a cat that lived to over 21, he survived three coyote attacks, multiple raccoons and possums, and never backed down from a fight, he had torn ears and long gray hair, and howled at night, cool guy.

My cat Jasmine lived almost 26 years old. I found her as a kitten about 3 weeks old in August 1989. She passed on March 22, 2015.

I wouldn't say 25 is a "world record." Cream Puff lived to be 38! My great Aunt had a cat that lived to about 27 or 28 years. A lady I use to work with had a cat that passed away at the age of 25 and my dad's uncle had a cat who nearly lived to be 30. Cats can outlive dogs by a long shot! Some cats have even outlived their owners.

My moms got a cat that’s 28 and shows no signs of slowing down however he never went fast to begin with which might be part of his longevity

Ha mine lived 2 years longer! He was born 1989-2016 he died not to long ago. Poor buddy. I miss him so much 😭😭

He may hold the record, but most likely is NOT the oldest cat. Very few people keep track of the age of their cats. Dogs, horses, other people; yes. Cats; usually not. One of my relatives has a cat we know is over 20 years old, but we probably wouldn't have even figured out it's at least that old until several of us noticed he'd been around much longer than any other cat we could remember. Still, no one knew exactly how old the cat is, since he just showed up one day as a stray.
