I love 80s shoulder pads- different degrees but it feels like a continuation of 70s victorian revival but pulling a different element. We need more fashion to create silhouette

You missed the bubble (watermelon) dresses, the teired dresses, sheer scarf in the hair, headband style, tied in a floppy bow. The scarf wrapped and tied around one wrist, plastic jewellery, arms loaded with bracelets (often thin metal bangles or chunky plastic). Scrunch socks (the sock version of leg warmers), stirrup pants and stirrup jeans, bodysuits and off-the-shoulder peasant blouses. Crimped or teased hair if you weren't allowed the perm. Side ponytails. Roller-skates. Hypercolour teeshirts (or was that 90s... I forget. The late 80s and early 90s are kinda blurred together for me now).

i honestly LOVEE the exaggerated silhouettes that the 80s had, they just seem so fun. especially for office wear, it just made what would usually be a boring blazer and skirt combo into something dramatic and fun.

One of my favorite accessories as an 80's kid were those plastic shapes (usually just a circle) that were meant to cinch an oversized tee shirt. It had the same effect as knotting it, but geometric and probably in neon colors! This might have been early 90's too, I can't remember exactly when I wore it. Also, banana clips for your hair were so rad.

I grew up in the 80s. Some trends I remember:

long prairie skirts with lace petticoats.

long tight knit skirts

stirrup pants

skin tight body suits that snapped at the crotch

plastic hoop earrings the size of coasters, paired with chunky plastic bracelets and matching plastic beads the size of large marbles

drawing a mole on your upper lip to look like Cindy Crawford

A LOT of neon pink lipstick and nail polish

railroad neck kerchiefs tied around your leg, head, or ankle

feathers on "Roach clips" fastened into your hair

The roach clip with feathers that we put in our hair behind our ears. The Pat Benatar braided rope across the forehead. Penny loafers with an actual penny in it. I was in HS in the 80's. I miss those days.

You look better in those clothes than anyone did in the 80's. It's so interesting to see 80's styles worn without the makeup and hair. The costumey-ness went from her to toe. This was my era, and I REALLY don't miss those styles.
