2JZ BRZ Pt 2 - What Still Works?

preview_player
Показать описание
In this episode I figure out what still works on the BRZ and what I need to figure out how to make work. Next I start attaching the engine mounting brackets to the 2JZ and start moving it in place to mount it in the BRZ.

I actually feel a sense of dread watching him work on cars. The fact he doesn't even know how the car's voltage regulator works is very telling as far as his level of education and hands on experience with cars. Frankly I'm amazed he's managed to get ANYTHING running.

You didn't run into a road block, you ran into an engine block. :)

Chris, love that you're doing this build! It's a build that I've been planning on doing for some time now, but I can hold off and live vicariously through you. 😋 Just a few things that might help you out:

-You've likely realized this already, but VVTi GTEs and non-VVTi GTEs have different motor mount bolt holes (IIRC non-VVTi have 8 bolts with different spacing). CXRacing is getting you the right mounts though, so no worries.
-VVTi GTEs from Aristos (which is what I believe you have) have a "Front-Sump" oil pan vs the "Rear/Mid Sump" that come on Supras. You will very likely need to get a Mid Sump oil pan in order to clear the subframe on the BRZ.

I know you want to make this a budget built but since you have the car stripped down I would really suggest into stripping the motor and check for leaks and cracks in any parts unless if that has already happen or if you know the engine is in good condition. Also clean up the engine bay by painting and removing unnecessary components to shed weight and by choice. Honestly with this motor and the weight of the car I'd really suggest taking a LONG time and build a show/race car. Just by having this engine and the body and weight of the GT86 you have so much potential to have a beast.

why won't you have a heater? it's just 2 heater hoses running into the core in the cabin...

The custom motor mounts show a hell of a lot of improvement in your welding. Good job 👍🏻👍🏻. Keep working hard at it and you'll see that with time you'll be welding just like Erick.

Man, I have the perfect single turbo for this build.... Its from my supra build project on the youtubes. I'm upgrading its a cast manifold single 44mm gate and a precision 6266 turbo. I should just give it too you... It seems like a good home for it :D
