A day starts when the sun rises and ends when the sun sets

How about Genesis 1:14 then because in this verse Yahuwah clearly states that He set the sun, moon and stars in the courses to set the time of meetings.

God didnt have to give dates for Sabbath  throughout the bible, it was given in the beginning. And he gave us the calender to find it with as well. You cannot find the true Sabbath day using a pagan roman calender, neither did Jesus or his disciples.

He claims the New Moon was not mentioned in the account of the giving of the manna. This is a lie. If you go to Exodus 16.1 "And they took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came unto the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month (New Moon) after their departing out of the land of Egypt."

Moses was well aware of the Creator's calendar, with it's New Moons. To say that the continuous weekly cycle was part of the ancient Hebrew calendar, is to deny well known, factual, calendar History. Even well known Jewish scholars will tell you this.

I hope this info. is not removed, but I absolutely agree about the Seventh Day Sabbath of the scriptures, however, the true Sabbath of the scriptures looks like this in the first(1st) lunar month below in calendar format from evidences found in the scriptures, and their are many scriptures to prove this throughout the lunar months .

1st day of month(New Moon Day=Isaiah 66:23; Col.2:16; Ezekiel 46:1) 2 3 4 5 6 7(six workdays) 8th( Sabbath Day) 9 10 11 12 13 14(six workdays=Passover=Lev. 23:5; John 19:14, 42) 15th(Sabbath Day=Lev. 23:6; Numb.28:17; Numb.33:3; Deut.5:12-15; John 19:31;Luke 23:56) 16th day=(first day of the week=Matthew 28:1; Mark 16;2; Luke 24:1;John 20:1) 17 18 19 20 21st(end of unleavened bread=Exodus 12:18=six work days) 22nd(Sabbath) 23 24 25 26 27 28(six work days) 29th(Sabbath) then at New moon 1st of the second month it repeats again.

In the second(2nd) lunar month the 15th day of the month can also be identified as the seventh day Sabbath in Exodus 16:1 and when the manna was given, and when the 15th day is identified as the Sabbath, then so are the 8th, 22nd, and 29th days as a mathematical default.

The seventh(7th) lunar month seventh day Sabbaths can also be identified in calendar format by looking at Leviticus 23:34-39 which tells you that the 15th day of the seventh(7th) month is a Sabbath day, and by comparing Numbers 29:12-35 of the seventh(7th) month below.

1st day of the seventh lunar month(Leviticus 23:24=Sabbath; Numbers 29:1) 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th(six working days) 8th(Sabbath) 9th 10th(Leviticus 23:27; Numbers 29:7) 11th 12th 13th 14th 15th(Leviticus 23:34-35, 39; Numbers 29:12= first day of F.O.T. Sabbath) 16th 17th 18th 19th 20th 21st(Leviticus 23:34; John 7:2, 37 =seventh and last day of F.O. Tabernacles) 22nd(Sabbath Leviticus 23:39; Numbers 29:35; 2 Chronicles 8-9; John 9:14=eighth day) 23rd 24th 25th 26th 27th 28th(six working days) 29th(Sabbath) then at new moon or 1st day of the eighth month it repeats.

Do you really believe that Moses and Christ followed today's Jesuit Christopher Clavius' and Pope Gregorian's calendar? There are 3 types or category of "Days" mentioned in the scriptures which are 1. New Moon or 1st day of the month Days, 2. the six workdays, 3. Seventh day Sabbaths, please see Ezekiel 46:1 for the mention of all three category of "days" .

If a person were to just forget EVERYTHING concerning ANY TYPE OF TIME KEEPING, then start to study Scripture and building understanding from that and observing how the sun and moon work, that Person would understand that the moon dictates the Sabbaths and the sun dictates the year.

YOU do realize that YOUR "NO WORK" saturday will periodically fall on YHWH'S "WORK PERMITTED ANNUAL HOLY DAY" (according to you)?
BECAUSE THE 2 SYSTEMS MOVE THROUGH EACH OTHER.

Thanks Lynnford. This issue has recently come up with one of our people and it is a blessing to have these sermons to study the matter through. To me the giving of manna in he wilderness for 40 years is the convincing issue. It also means that all who keep the Lunar Sabbaths have to reject all the writings of Ellen White and all our Pioneers.

Passover in 31AD was a Wednesday. (Look it up) Hmmmm, so Wednesday is the sixth day of the week? Maybe they were going by a different calendar, like God's original luni-solar calendar instead of the pagan Julian calendar? Yes, indeed. Daniel 7:25 He will think to change times (the calendar) and laws. And he has and has united the whole world under his banner.

I don't like it when someone says...  "If God wanted us to...He would have".  That completely makes me think someone is arguing from their own understanding.  I have family members that say this, too.  "If god exists, he will appear in my back yard."

We all know it doesn't work that way.  Hosea 2:11 states feast days (and double states at the end of the verse [and all solemn feasts]), new moons, and sabbaths will cease.  With the gregorian calendar...even if we think we (and especially the [Jews]) are doing it right, we would not be...and all these blessed days would be ceased; until (as in Isa 66) all flesh come before and worship YaH from ever New Moon to New Moon and every Sabbath to Sabbath.

Wasn't it in Jeremiah that states the heavens will be realigned.  Something like that.  I cannot find the text.  The way it was translated made it seem like a reawakening to truth about the heavens.  If that can be tied to that understanding than it seems it might be tied to this reawakening of the Lunar Sabbath.

I know don't know very much, and so I'm just keeping my eyes looking up.

"The New Moon is still, and the Sabbath originally was, dependent upon the lunar cycle . . . ." ("Holidays, " Universal Jewish Encyclopedia, p. 410.)

-The Sabbath, as marking the end of the week, reveals its lunar origin; the phases of the moon having taught the shepherds, whose weal or wo depended so largely upon the benevolence or malevolence of the night season, to divide the period elapsing between two new moons into four equal groups (weeks), the last day of each—in imitation of the moon's coming to rest, as it were—becoming the day of rest. Indications are not wanting that at first the New Moon festival was not counted among the seven days of the week; but after 7✗4 (=28) days had elapsed, one or two days were intercalated as New Moon days, whereupon a new cycle of four weeks began, so that the Sabbath was a movable festival. Later the week and the Sabbath became fixed; and this gradually resulted in taking away from the New Moon festival its popular importance.
-Classification of Feastivals
(2) Those connected with the moon: (a) Sabbath;

Probable Lunar Origin.—Critical View:
-The origin of the Sabbath, as well as the true meaning of the name, is uncertain...
-It was probably originally connected in some manner with the cult of the moon, as indeed is suggested by the frequent mention of Sabbath and New-Moon festivals in the same sentence...
-The Sabbath depending, in Israel's nomadic period, upon the observation of the phases of the moon, it could not, according to this view, be a fixed day. When the Israelites settled in the land and became farmers, their new life would have made it desirable that the Sabbath should come at regular intervals, and the desired change would have been made all the more easily as they had abandoned the lunar religion.

It's amazing that these confessions come straight from the Jewish encyclopedia. It specifically says that the Sabbath was originally by the phases of the moon and was not a fixed day like it is today. They try to justify this by saying the Israelites were coming out of a moon cult and that when the Sabbath was turned into a fixed day, that was the proper intent by God. That is an amazing confession. The moon cult spin, is obviously false as God taught the Israelites the true lunar Sabbath and lunar calendar from the beginning of its journey out of Egypt.

WEEK -
Connection with Lunar Phases.
-A division of time comprising seven days, thus explaining the Hebrew name. There are indications of the use of another system of reckoning time, in which the month was divided into three parts of ten days each, the decade being designated in Hebrew by the term " 'asor" (Gen. xxiv. 55; comp. the commentaries of Dillmann and Holzinger ad loc.; Ex. xii. 3; Lev. xvi. 29, xxiii. 27, xxv. 9). This apparently represented one-third of the solar month, while the week of seven days was connected with the lunar month, of which it is, approximately, a fourth. The quadripartite division of the month was evidently in use among the Hebrews and other ancient peoples; but it is not clear whether it originated among the former. It is unnecessary to assume, however, that it was derived from the Babylonians, for it is equally possible that observations of the four phases of the moon led the Hebrew nomads spontaneously and independently to devise the system of dividing the interval between the successive new moons into four groups of seven days each. There is ground, on the other hand, for the assumption that both among the Babylonians and among the Hebrews the first day of the first week of the month was always reckoned as coincident with the first day of the month. The emphasis laid on the requirement (Lev. xxiii. 15) that the weeks of Pentecost should be "complete" ("temimot") suggests that weeks might be reckoned in such a way as to violate this injunction. This was the case as long as the first day of the first week of the month was made to coincide with the new moon. At the end of four weeks an interval of one or two days might intervene before the new week could begin. At an early date, however, this intimate connection between the week and the moon must have been dissolved, the chief cause of the fixed week of seven days being, in all probability, the predominance of the seventh day as the Sabbath.

Wow, wow, and let me just say WOW! It's unbelievable that all of this is in the Jewish Encyclopedia. The Jews, in the know, actual admit this stuff. They know the Sabbath was never a continuous weekly cycle. They tell you out in the open that the Sabbath was originally by the phases of the moon.

Like a paragraph, the "indentation", or prelude to the new month does not start with a typically numbered "day". --It is neither a 7th day Sabbath, nor work day... probably a Moed, or signal day of celebration
I.E. Start the beginning (dark-moon day) of the month with a letter: "A" "B" etc, and everything else will fall right into perspective, as per weekly sequence.
The dark moon after the *last* or "4th" Sabbath is the prelude to the next month. --Could not be simpler! Give the "number regimentation" thing a rest!!

"And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made." (Gen. 2:2, 3)

"Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." (Ex. 20:8-11)

"And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning. And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stink, neither was there any worm therein. And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day is a sabbath unto the LORD: to day ye shall not find it in the field. Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none." (Ex. 16:23-26)

"Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shalt rest" (Ex. 23:12)

"Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death." (Ex. 31:15)

"It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed." (Ex. 31:17)

"Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest." (Ex. 34:21)

"Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death." (Ex. 35:2)

"Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God" (Deut. 5:13-14)

Six days you labor, and you rest on the seventh.

There is no such thing as an eight day week or a nine day week.

God never specified certain days of the month for his sabbath.

We need to do what He did and do all our work on six days, but rest on one specific day, the seventh day. The day that God made holy and commanded that we remember as one specific day, the seventh day, and we are to keep it holy.

Lk. 4:16 So he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up to read.

Acts 17:2 Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures,

Brother going over this study, and I'm confused to when you say the 14th at even, isn't that when the day start at even? I thought that we keep the Sabbath from even to even

Please encourage your SDA leaders and brothers and sisters to be open-minded and be like the noble Bereans. The long history of the church's handling of this matter is an unfortunate one, to say the least. I know by personal experience that the church's attitude and condition is as the Scripture said it would be - Laodicean

So Isaiah 66:22-23 tells us that everything will be restored to the original- in the future in the New Heavens and the New Earth.
Do you suggest I just ignore this part of Scriptures?
