Steamer Trunk Restoration

100 years Old Steamer Trunk / Chest Restoration. This little chest was a nuisance in itself. More than 1000 nails were used to reinforce and decorate it. In a way, it was redone.

There is also a small concert in the video :)

Beautiful restoration. My great-grand parents brought their possessions from Ireland in trunks just like that one. The adults were allowed a full size trunk each and each child got a half-sized trunk. They brought a total of nine steamer trunks.

The addition of the paper was spot on. The design emulated the pattern of the original lining of the chest, but on a somewhat larger scale. Quite a statement piece, and one can see that styling being used today.

Absolutely incredible restoration of this beautiful steamer trunk. I used to have 3. Two round top and one flat top. They were 100 yrs old and in like new condition except they needed new locks. Brings back fond memories. ~Kevin

I subscribe to your channel because you do a lot of (in my opinion) extreme and multi skill restorations and makeovers. The concert and peek into your life is definitely an appreciated bonus 🙂

wow, you really gave that old trunk some beautiful new life. Steamer trunks have amazing stories and are such beautiful pieces of furniture/storage. I love your work and I am glad Youtube slapped you on my recommendations!

It's absolutely amazing that it's possible do renovate it so well and reuse so much of the original material.

A dear friend had a chest at the foot of his guest room where I often stayed. Now he is gone, he always had a mildew scent he did not know how to remove but he lives again in this video for some reason. How he would have loved to see this restored piece. Thank you. It is wonderfully engrossing to see it come alive again. Stay well my friend who.

I really liked your work so much, congratulations! But as for the wallpaper, I think it could have been different, keeping the old ferry trunk style. Still, it was really cool!

Wow what an amazing transformation 👍 watching you fill all those old nail holes I imagine would have taken some time. I liked all the finishing touches. Concert sounded great also. Well done my friend 👏👏👏👏

I wouldn't call this a restoration, I would call it a reconstruction. Impressive work.

How sweet you are to each other and a good trade. And as usual, you are a stickler for details

I have a very similar trunk but twice as big, used for traveling on a boat, on sea; so well done. The craftmanship of these is incredible, so many details and so solid. I have a blue one and a brown one.

I wasn't sure there for awhile you were going to be able to save the wood. Excellent job.
