I've run into this with multiple hobby shops. I prefer supporting local hobby shops versus large retailers.. but when you are asking $250 for a $75 item I have to stand down.

Love what your doing. I stopped by a silver shop in Florida last week and they were selling 90 percent at 30 times face. Just wow.

I didn't deal with my local shop as he charged $1 more per silver ounce than online (pre lockdown). I did buy my gold from a different local shop and did pay about 1.5% more than online.

What would you say is max difference you should accept?

Let's say they are selling for 20x face...is 17x face payment reasonable?

How much less should you take?

What about for silver eagles? If they are selling for $40, what is reasonable to sell to them for?

I have no opinion, I used to run a junk shop, and usually we did spot price for gold and silver, but I never had the opportunity of buying/selling constitutional silver. I don't have experience with coins at all to be honest.

We paid spot for chains and stuff, we'd either sell it as jewelry (rarely), or we'd just stock up and wait until we had an ounce worth and price was right to sell. It was a small family shop, so it wasn't nearly as detailed as some of you guys get.

I have a story that I can't tell about a coin shop, it's crazy and why I don't trust them. I have great luck with reputable Pawn Shops. Be careful out there! Keep stacking! 🌼

Coin shops and used car dealerships are basically the same business. If you don’t know what you’re doing they’re going to take advantage of you.
