Coin Shop Owner "Don't Bother Looking For Mint Error Coins!" You can still find mint error coins in coin rolls from the bank, I think I've proved that myself through my coin roll hunts but finding a 1969 doubled die penny is certainty like hitting the lottery! Brad from Coins Plus in Cincinnati shares his thoughts on mint error coins.

Error coins aren't worthless, they are worth what ever someone is willing to pay for them.

The "I know your Mr Internet" comment from him would of immediatly had me heated. Dont never let anybody try to belittle or make light of what you have accomplished over the years. You have really built up a great business & channel.

The thing I didn't hear mentioned is the fact roll hunting is FREE and has ZERO loss when done properly.

I genuinely just enjoy looking through coins. Unlike the lottery where I'm losing $, I can always turn my coins back in. It's more about the fun and CHANCE of a rare coin without costing me that I like.

I have found lots of coins that are doubled dies. Just the other day I found a 2018 DDO. Never stop looking at coins. I have found many cool error coins in my pocket change.

What's crazy is Couch collectibles was doing nothing but agreeing with him. That's a little frustrating when he is posting most all content about errors and finding them in your pocket change. Pretty sad in my opinion opinion.

That's what people say who inherit their dad's old coin shop and have money to bye "real" mint errors

The hunt is what I love. The hunt is what got me started 30 yrs ago looking through my grandparents' change filling books. I myself love finding stuff that looks wrong on a coin and doing my own research to see what the difference is. I do that because I'm afraid I'd get ripped off.

As far as I am concerned the only legitimate doubled-die is one you do not need a loupe or magnifying glass for: the 1955 Lincoln Head cent...

I'm all for looking for errors in coins. The expectation of getting rich off said errors isn't exactly there like the internet tells you. Please enjoy your hobby, there may be a chance of a life changing coin, however the expectation of that will lead to failure.

Education is the key. Understanding the minting process, true double dies and strike doubling, and exploring varieties are prerequisites for any novice numismatist. Yes, the internet is saturated with hype, misinformation, and fairy tales of incredible wealth. The simple fact is this: virtually all new errors are found by experienced numismatists, not novices, because we know what we're looking for. That said, anyone can search for errors provided they have done their homework as indicated. The more interested and educated people who want to participate in the hunt, the better for the hobby because we need them to help drive demand in the numismatic marketplace.

I love looking for error coins, I guess he is kind of right, the odds of finding a valuable error coin is going to be tough but you can't find them if you don't look for them. My best find was buying 2 unc rolls of 1961-D pennies & in those 2 rolls I found 27 of the 61-D over horizontal D RPM variety so it is possible to find some good one's 👍

I love the search, I refuse to stop and I can't afford to send coins at this time to be graded but you can trust I have an eBay account and make sure I am completely honest about the errors I have tried selling. The trolls on eBay are the reason I can't actually make a dollar because according to eBay I've made close to 9 thousand when in reality I've sold nothing and my prices are much lower than the ones that people have posted that are similar

guys like him show how little passion they have for their industry. He would chase away coin collectors instead of inviting them in.

dont look for your own coins....buy from my shop. thats what he seems to say without saying it. just wondering if he has a double die coin, how much will he sell it for?

Great interview. What stuck with me is the importance of properly identifying the errors on a coin. I.E. properly identifying the terms "double die", "doubled die", "double strike" etc etc. What I was wondering after the interview is if there exists a comprehensive price list anywhere of how much to sell a particular error coin for. The prices seem to be all over the map. In any case this highly experienced shop owner was very enjoyable to learn from and thanks for the video ! Thank You Brad !

He's probably right to an extent but also probably a little jaded after years of doing this. I could see myself being jaded after looking at millions of coins over the years. It's still a fun hobby to do. I find the currency a lot easier to go through though, coins are a lot of work.

I'm unsure of the purpose for posting this video? Sounds Iike he's throwing shade on what YOU do all day; every day. Coin roll hunting is just a fun and interesting hobby.

Thanks for saying this, I was going a little nuts looking through my change in a panic that I would spend a valuable coin.
