I came to check back on this video and half expected to find a potential sh*tshow in the comment section. Especially us Finns are not so good at talking about money and we always expect trouble to come out of it heheh. So thanks for all the nice comments and keep them coming, either positive or negative, I can't reply to each and every one of you but I'll make sure to read through the whole comment section!

How do you know that I earn a lot of money? Cause I used hundred dollar bills for the video thumbnail. First I was going with the one dollar bills but then I thought, f*ck it, let's go crazy!

PS. I wrote the script and gathered the numbers for this video around 3-4 weeks ago, so my total number of videos is not the same anymore. Also, like I mentioned in the video, the actual amount of hours spent is probably a lot higher (especially when you add things like uploading, thumbnail creation etc), but this gives you some kind of a rough idea! :)

EDIT (addition): I came to check back on this video and half expected to find a potential sh*tshow in the comment section. Especially us Finns are not so good at talking about money and we always expect trouble to come out of it heheh. So thanks for all the nice comments and keep them coming, either positive or negative, I can't reply to each and every one of you but I'll make sure to read through the whole comment section!

Not only honesty and integrity in sharing the numbers but _also_ in warning us there was 100% no sailing. Class act.

I would repeat, agree, with many of the comments already said. It is like a breath of fresh air to watch your adventure, journeys on YouTube. Your honesty and genuine understatement in many situations that I would be rather worried about reflects your skill and experience in a way Ive not seen before. I am a 77 year old New Zealander, regrettably no longer sailing but owned and solo sailed northern New Zealand waters, on a 36' English Rival, originally built for the Southern Oceans to Lloyds 100A1 Plus standard. (I installed electric winches and self furling Genoa and Mainsail due to being only 60kgs myself).
I now live life vicariously, thru videos such as yours. One of my lifes regrets was never taking my boat (registered name Gjoa does that ring any bells with you?). Good luck with your business, may it grow every year.
Fair winds and safe sailing for many years to you and Sophie.

Your channel brings something unique compared to most other sailing channels. There is an abundance of tropical sailing channels but very few that does Iceland/northern Europe as you do.

You my friend are a breath of fresh air, as well as a world class adventure sailor and honest person ! Cheers to you both

You and Sophie are high latitude sailors in an old boat- a tough environment in which to live, sail, and create videos. Good luck to you both and stay safe.

I appreciate your honesty, and your insight into being a creator on YT.
I played on the water some years ago - dinghy/yacht racing and some cruising the waters of Southwest Devon, England, Cornwall and the Channel Islands - it will always be in my blood, but I'm now a land-line in Spain, creating a homestead off grid..I live sailing watching your adventures, and it does my heart good.
I'm now an 80yrs young woman :-)) and thankfully healthy and strong..
I'll look forward to your videos, and when finances will allow, I'll become a Patron..
Fair winds my friend..👍👍🥰

That should read " land - lubber " not land line LOL.

Juho, you are too honest and modest 😁
Having met you in person, on a boat buying venture, I can say that you guys on YouTube and IRL are the same- down to Earth, practical and fun quirky. Fair winds and may your channel continue to grow to reflect the work you put in and the places you take us.

Thanks for making this one. I think you made the right choice in publishing it. I have always been curious about the inner workings of youtube publication and the patreon (or similar) platform. I think you did a nice and concise explanation. I appreciate the difficulty of that decision and the personal exposure required to do this video. I am subscribed on YT but not patreon. I'm not a fan of the various social media platforms. I make an exception for YT because of sailing and flying content. I subscribe to those I follow and always give a like to each video I watch. Your channel is one I'd like to contribute to, but I have not gotten over my patreon problem yet.

Yes, your unique content is a big reason I am here. I'm not familiar with that part of the world and was shocked to see someone cruising a sailboat in that environment. I was hooked immediately. Very unique and I get a great deal of enjoyment watching and listening. It's an interesting part of the world with interesting people but you and your on board friends are the biggest reason I watch. I find you and Sohvi to be very likeable people and the life you're living very adventurous and admirable. I'm glad you are out there.

You seem to be an open honest and genuine person who happens to be doing some really adventurous sailing and creating excellent videos. You will do well no doubt about it.

Thanks for the transparency. This should work as a wake-up call to many delusional folks out there. For the record (my personal opinion), Sailing La Vagabond was much better when they had the monohull. After that they lost sight of their roots (or changed with the extra money flowing in). They still make success but I lost my interest in their content. You are more aligned w/ what I look for in sailing videos. I hope you remain strong and stay the route. I wish you continuous success.

Things I love about your videos are not in any order of better. There is no hype or overstatement. No music. Your humility and honesty and of course the videos themselves. I love the sailing adventures and the fix-up episodes. I am going to be a Patron today.
