My reaction was anxiety and fear. Now I have control over my reaction and I will have quiet times. When it’s loud and obnoxious I know it will settle down and l sometimes I can even ignore it.

Nice seeing Dr Edmund Farrar from oto here. Indeed oto sound therapy has helped me a lot & am gradually getting my life back.
The anxiety, depression & other mental triggers that comes with Tinnitus is nothing to write about but thank goodness have started coping & am experiencing a significant reduction in the sound of my Tinnitus.. I guess I can say have started habituating aswell

I've only recently developed tinnitus but the nights are much worse what I've started doing is playing the sounds of rain or the ocean on my phone whilst it's charging this not only soothes & calms me but also distracts the mind from the noise & diverts your focus on the rain, it helps quieten the mind & any anxiety you may be feeling, hope this helps any would be sufferers.

At first when I had this nightmare of my whole life it was tough, so hard to ignore and sleep but as years goes by I didnt notice it at all no choice acceptance is the key and embrace it until the end.

I had tinnitus for years mildly but didn't perceive it as a threat until it got worse due to hearing loss in one ear. On a bad day, it's the muscle contractions caused by the brains' response to the noise accelerating that hurts.

I panicked for a month 1st time I got tinnitus. Damn ringing was so loud. Think a week later I accepted it and stopped wearing headphones, each time I used powertools/lawn mower ect I would use earplugs. My lowered my volume on the tv.now my tinnitus ringing is so low sometimes I dont even hear it anymore. Yeah best advice I can give is to try to avoid loud things and if u wanna wear headphones dont go above 50% volume.Noise is insanely bad for tinnitus.

At first, I would say I didn’t realize it! I thought it was an appliance. Then I realized…IT’S IN MY HEAD! That’s when I couldn’t keep my mind off of it. Did I do this to myself when I cleaned my ears? Is it from working at the airport? Why do I hear this white noise type noise!? It can be scary and distracting. I’m hoping I can stop noticing it.

Hi, sir! 👋 Awesome channel! Been watching for a long time now. Thank you for all of your work in educating about tinnitus. Also, I just came back from a visit with my dentist. After mouth x-rays, my dentist noticed that all 4 of my wisdom teeth are "extremely impacted". I'm 38 year old and never needed to remove them before because they have never bothered me. According to my dentist, usually if they're not bothering you they won't recommend extraction. I guess my question is this; is it possible that my tinnitus is being caused my impacted wisdom teeth???

I have this ringing noise after a sinus flu problem. Blew hard through nose .
Ears popped.
Now this 14 khz and above high pitch noise.

I DO TRY TO IGNORE THE SOUND AND FOCUS ON something else.

Is it harder to habituate if tinnitus in only 1 ear ? How about if it fluctuates?
