On May 2, 2009, a 30-year old Manny Pacquiao (48-3-2, 36 KO) faced British boxer Ricky Hatton, who was 30 years old with a record of 45-1 for Hatton's Ring Magazine super-lightweight title. Hatton was on a two-fight win streak with 32 KO wins, and was the taller of the two by 2 cms but Pacquiao had a 5 cm reach advantage over Hatton.

Pacquiao defeated Hatton via 2nd round KO to win the Ring Magazine super-lightweight title. He is now on a 10-fight winning streak, with three back-to-back KO wins.
