i've been looking for about 2hrs for a proper speech (from a recorded audio file) to text tool, at first I tried android apps, then browserbased services and an app from the chrome webstore. nothing really worked the way I wanted it.

then I saw this vid. a simple yet brilliant workaround, i've known virtual audio cable since ages, why haven't I thought about it, goddammit.

Great video, Sampath. Congrats. I need some help. Im getting this: No speech was detected. You may need to adjust your microphone settings.
What should i do? Anytime im on Skype or Hangouts, the Noganet webcam+mic on my pc starts automatically BUT It seems its nor recognizing Api. I got windows XP. Dispositivo de sonido y audio Realtek. Hope you can give me a hand, some advice or suggest a link to a helpful web page (in case it would be necessary to make "step-by-step changes" on audio configuration) Kind regards, thanks!

I really did try to follow this but threw up my hands in despair halfway through and deleted it all. What I didn't realize was that I already had the capability. Just open Evernote, click the microphone and you have instant text. As for reading and translating a wav file, I'm working on that too and have been assured I can do it easily with what I have. Thanks for your video though. I appreciate your effort.

you can always use stereo mix (click the show disable devices, after you right click in the recording devices window)

Thank you very much for the instructions to convert the speech into text. It seemed a bit difficult but by listening to the video a few times I could get how to go ahead, and succeded.

the transcription always work less than 3-5 minutes, and you will have to refresh the page in order to continue. There are many clicks needed in between too. So for an one hour video, you usually end up using more than 5 hours converting it to text. Does it have to do with free or full version of the software or what? Thanks!

Hey sampath, thanks for the idea. I tried it and it worked fine.. but it stops after 8 or 9 lines. Is there any other way to make it transcribe 20 minutes length audio? idhu saathhiyama?

The idea is great, but you need to go slower and clearer when you explain stuff, repeating instructions a couple of times..and be a little more systematic. E.g. go one step at a time, where to find and what software need to be downloaded, explaining at the same time its functions. Finally demonstrating the conversion from audio/video to text at the end.

I've been trying for HOURS to figure out how to do this.  Was REALLY happy to find your video.  It did work, but I wish the Web Speech API software was a little better at what it does.
