Turkish Military Convoy Moves to Syrian Border

Turkey deployed more military vehicles and equipment to Syria's Idlib province, Friday, February 21. Footage shared by private IHA news agency shows a truck convoy transporting army tanks and equipment through the town of Hatay on its way to Turkey's southern border.

READ MORE: U.N. agencies report around 3 million civilians are trapped in Idlib, unable to escape to other countries because borders with Syria have been closed. As a consequence, they say most of the displaced are moving into increasingly crowded areas toward the border between Idlib and Turkey.

Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs spokesman Jens Laerke said about one-third or 330,000 of the displaced have fled to nearby areas in northern Aleppo, which also are under fire.

"The frontlines and relentless violence continue to move closer to these areas, which are packed with displaced people, with bombardments increasingly affecting displacement sites and their vicinity. We call for an immediate cease-fire to prevent further suffering and what we fear may end in a bloodbath,” Laerke said.

They have absolutely no air cover. Syrian TV just released videos of Russian drone strikes on 2 Turkish tanks and a few APCs. Whoever is sending these people into a war zone with orders not to target aircraft that are targeting them is doing them a huge disservice.

I don’t know. Maybe Turkey entering the war is the right move for peace. They are after all a member of NATO, representing the peaceful, prosperous and democratic aims of the western capitalist world. Plus they have better relations with the Russians. Plus Russia doesn’t have to see NATO as a threat except to its own nature as a tyrannical state in its response to acts of freedom/ liberation which it views as chaos.

As a citizen of Turkish republic I dont support the policy of the erdoğan all the time such as relation with other countries no argument there. However our presence in the province has sensible reasons. If leave the control of that province to russia and syria the local people would start to flee to the Turkey. We already have numerous refugees and we are sharing our resources with them, which is something you never guys never tended to do since the beggining of the the ccivil war in syria. That's why while critsizing on side try to make an empathy. You cant imagine how hard to live with nearly 4 million refugees.
As a last thing, it is certainly unnaccpetable to define Turkish soldiers as an "jihadists".
Our concern is not to expand our bordings and never will be.

Turkey needs good air defence systems to chase away Russia's fighter jets while Russia has S400s in Syria which prevents Turkey from using its air force and gives Russia an advantage .Turkey's S400s won't be operational till April.
