My Rolex Datejust is my first (and only) Rolex and was made in 1960. I purchased it in 1988 for $1200 from and accredited Sears and Roebuck store used watch department. I wear this watch every day and appreciate even more as time passes. I'm old and my faithful Rolex is 16 years older than I am. Another testimony for quality!

It's great buying your dream watch. I don't have girlfriend so I have more money to spend on watches and don't have to explain anyone what I'm buying. Also they have expensive and frequent servicing costs compared to watches.

Don't change the crystal, it's original, it has a nice story, so it has been buffed, who cares if the magnification isn't up to spec...

Bought one one year ago, quite similar to yours but from 1970 and thereby with the older movement and not with the quick date setting.
I’m more than satisfied though. A perfect watch for formal occasions. But as soon as I’m finished working I can’t wait to put it on my wrist. After a year I’m still in my honeymoon period😊👍

Grail for me is probably a grand seiko snowflake or speedmaster professional.

Hey Oleg, finally I got my grail Datejust. An early 2000's 16200 model, looking like yours but with smooth bezel and a Oyster bracelet. All restored to original condition and verified - I just couldnt spend that kind of money without being sure I got what I paid for. I am not made of money but I have saved for some time. And I think that every watch enthusiast wants to own a Rolex at one point. Maybe its comparable to being a car enthusiast and wanting to own a sporty BMW, Mercedes or maybe even Porsche. I thought about getting an older watch one like yours, I am born in 1977 so that could be neat, I love the "knurled" bezel and the jubilee bracelet too. And a used (but not abused) and loved watch with normal patina has a special charm. Such a watch is also easier to start wearing too, because it has been "broken in" my watch is just sitting all day because I dont want to put the first scratch. But I guess its not too late for me to get a vintage one. The blue and black dials with white print on the vintage ones are tasty too. Just wanted to say that your video was a part of inspiring me to get the Datejust.

I love how the buffed crystal made the magnifier become part of it and not like this blob that's just attached.

I think that’s called an engine turn bezel not a fluted bezel correct me if I’m wrong very nice watch though congrats Oleg love the channel keep up the great videos

As soon as you mentioned Norbert I knew where you're from. The German Watchmaker Is a true legend. I now live elsewhere but make trips back specifically for him.

So right about the aftermarket crystals. I bought the "best" aftermarket one, after studying the different watch forums, for my vintage Tudor Sub and it didn't fit as it ended up having 0.1mm of play. Norbert helped me to select an original on eBay and even though the crystal cost me $250 USD it fit perfectly as it should!

Enjoy your Datejust!

My 1951 solid gold Omega is still running fine, only sent it once for a clean to Switzerland.
I don't see how a Rolex would be better than that.

My grail watch that I own for over a year now is a Sturmanskie Gagarin 1961 Titanium Edition (2609/3707131) with the ivory dial. It's a remake of the watch that Yuri Gagarin wore on his journey in space in 1961, becoming the first watch in space.

I bought a 16220 from Japan( i live in Holland) for a little over 4k and i had to pay 900 on import tax that i didn't forsee. Definitely do enough research on this to prevent uncalculated costs

That was my first Rolex 16030 same color 1982 model. The second and last was a 16013 and I put a black dial on it, I love them both.
