This world was a far better place when John walked it

This is my favorite song by John Denver. I get choked up listening to it, no matter times I hear it. This is an especially tender version. Rest in peace, John.

What a voice, what lyrics. RIP dearest John Denver. You have a song for all of us. We can all identify your lyrics with our lives. You were just too good for this world.

I have been through some hard times in my 56yrs but nothing compares to the pain of losing the love of someone you have loved your whole life. This song says it all.

This is his song about losing Annie. John used to fly into the Hayden airport, in Hayden, Co. when I worked there in the summer of 1985. He didn't have the glasses, and his hair was short then. We tried to give him the privacy he needed. I used to rent cars to him, and he was always personable, and normal.

Among the greatest of all songs, wish I’d known just how little time we’d have, forever in my ❤️

I'm sorry Ariana. I'm sorry I neglected you so much and didn't listen to you. Now you're gone and it's my fault. I'm sorry baby. I'll always love you

I still think of you when I hear this song, even though it’s been 45 years, when you first sent the lyrics to me in Japan, where I was stationed.

18th!!!
this is the best version of "Sorry" I have heard. I wonder if he was singing this in Australia before he met his Australian nightmare. He sure must have regretted neglecting Annie Martin.

it's a really great performance and arrangement. Wish this were remastered and offered for a new CD/Download release. I read elsewhere in the comments for this post that JD's guitar wasn't recorded for the first half of the performance due to a connection fault. This is actually serendipitous, because—aside from others who gradually join—what you hear in the beginning is just the accompanying guitarist and JD's vocals in the first half of the song and then joined by JD's guitar in the second half. It lends itself to a more powerful arrangement; building harmonic and emotional momentum as the song progresses. Quite possibly the finest live rendition of the song I've ever heard. Moving and nuanced. Today would've been his 77th Birthday. Miss you, John.
