On May 16, 2011, Professor of Physics Emeritus Walter Lewin returned to MIT lecture hall 26-100 for a physics talk and book signing, complete with some of his most famous physics demonstrations to celebrate the publication of his new book For The Love Of Physics: From the End of the Rainbow to the Edge of Time - A Journey Through the Wonders of Physics, written with Warren Goldstein.

Note: Due to a serious complaint against Dr. Lewin, MIT has revoked Dr. Lewin's title of Professor Emeritus as of December 2014.

Its great to see such a professor who believes in excellence rather than good marks.

In just the first 18 minutes of watching I learned more on the pendulum than years in college and it was actually enjoyable to watch.

I honestly don't know how I ended up watching this video, one moment I was watching a teacher break a student's phone and then this. He did make the whole thing interesting, great professor.

40 hours per lecture. That is absolutely insane. This man loves his students like nobody else.

This lecture has made me conclude that among the profound educators are simply physicists who do not bore students and strive to make sense of the world that physics and physics alone can explicitly explain.

Skip to 17:31 to understand why it's his last lecture.

I thoroughly enjoyed this lecture. It made me tear up at the end. It is beautiful to see how math and science work hand in hand. This is the first time I heard an explanation on why the sky is blue. It is so empowering to learn from one that truly has a passion for the field they are in.

The most charismatic, inspiring, dignified, and elucidating teacher of physics of the 20th century. His methods of communication, his manner of educating are as charming as they are wonderful. Not since the great Richard Feynman has there been such a popular educator of physics. His videos will be enjoyed for many generations to come.

I learned about physics in 45 minutes more than my college years!
Thank you so much!
